Ok I was wondering if it would be perfectly legal if I was on a school grounds to pick someone up with a empty holster, say leaving the pistol in the car? Also, I was wondering what do most of you wear? like khakis and polo shirts?

i may be mistaken but according to what i was told in the CCW class i took yesterday possession of a firearm is prohibited completely on school grounds. that includes the parking lot and any grounds associated with the school. the statute also includes private schools and universities. so to answer your question, no it is not legal to leave the weapon in the car because it is still on school property. if somebody knows otherwise please let me know. i occasionally have to pick my little brother up from school and worry about what to do with my pistol.

It's not illegal towear a holster when you go on to school grounds, however it is illegal to have a firearm on educational property, including in your car on parking lots and roads of that school. If you were wearing a holster, I imagine that would be probable cause for them to search your car for a gun as well. I'm pretty sure if your gun is on educational property that itsa felony unless your gun is locked in a case which is a misdemeanor and grounds for the confiscation or denial of your concealed handgun permit. I would park next door and walk to the school to pick the person up.

anyone else have different attire?

Depends on the day! Shorts a t-shirt, jeans and a polo, khakis and a sweater, slacks and a dress shirt...I really don't dress any differently now than I did when I didn't carry.

Oh, and an empty holster on your hip is NOT legal justification for ANYTHING, search, detainment, arrest, or otherwise. It DOES scream "my gun is in my car, go steal it" though lol.
