Yesterday, I open carried while participating as a delegate at the Kitsap County Republican Convention. During the eight hour meeting, I was approached by many people who were genuinely curious about Washington State firearms laws. I handed out a lot of our pamphlets, and educated many people.
At the caucuses several weeks ago, I submitted for consideration by the platform committee, a change to one plank of the county platform. Yesterday, the new plank was unanimously approved by voice vote. The previous plank read, “We support the constitutional right of the people to keep and bear arms…” It now reads, “We support the constitutional right of the individual to keep and bear arms…” Changing one word doesn’t seem like much, but I think it is quite meaningful. Judging from the applause that followed the vote, others felt the same way.
