2nd day of owning glock 19, was also first day of OC for me!

the 11th I went to Hyatt Gun Shop and finally purchased my Glock 19. That night I dropped my sister off to Karate, walked in the school and.....nothing......no gasps, no pointing. Of course it was just and instructer and three students at that time, so it didn't really count.

The next day brought me out of work. I needed to pick up a few things but feared for my job so I went parked next door in Harris Teeter and holstered up in the car (now that was a good trick, try it sometime). I strollled out into the parking lot, feeling real good, not scared one bit, in fact I was excited. I walked into the doors and.....nothing......no stares......no gasps.......nobody diving for cover.......nothing. As I was looking for my products (what appeared to be) the store manager walked behind me down a whole isle and kept on walking not saying a word to me. Perhaps he didn't notice. I did my shopping and glided out of the store like I didn't even have a gun. That night Dad wanted to pick up some Banana cream pie (yum yum) so I thought I'd escort him. We got in and out, and the same thing happened.......nothing. My brother's fears of me being hassled all day did not occur.........yet. I'm sure something will happen; but hassles will not be a common place like he worries.

This is not a promo for Opencarry. But I seriously wouldn't have even thought of OCing if it wasnt for the fact a month ago I accidently found this website. After reading and posting, I was very confident and felt like I had things under control because of all the info and encouragement I got here. Thanks Open Carry!:celebrate

There's nothing wrong with promoting open carry! One thing though..you didn't mention whether you put any rounds through your new glock before carrying it. If you haven't, you really should before you carry with it again. Every gun from every manufacturer needs to be broken in. Generally you want to put at least 200 or so rounds through it. Use a couple different brands of ammo, including the ammo that you want to carry. This will give you the opportunity to intimately familiarize yourself with the weapon, and make sure it is reliable as it should be.

With that said, it's good to hear all went well! Happy carrying!

Though if I had to carry a gun without a break in firing, it would be a Glock.

I don't have a lot of experience with Glocks, but most of what I heard says you're right. Of course, even Glock sends out a doozie once in a while.

There are more than a few open carry folks in Raleigh. I finished a delivery at around 2am one morning and hit the Steak n shack for dinner on the way home. There were two other folks open carrying when I was there making it three. The night manager has actually thanked me for coming in armed. She said it makes her feel safer. There has been a bunch of armed robberies around the Capital Blvd / Millbrook road area. Last week a clerk was shot and killed in what appears to have been a early morning robbery. She had three children and was about to remarry. If she was armed, she might still be here. God bless her three little children, I can't imagine the horror they are living right now. It's just a disgrace that some employers ban carrying of weapons.

FYI:
I OC in Huntersville, Charlotte area. I know a friend who HAS OCed, but don't think he does regularly. I love OCing whenever I get the chance. Mon. and Tues I have work from 8am till 4:30pm and they don't allow weapons:cuss:. I get home those two days and stay at the house for an hour then leave for CPCC north campus where again guns are banned:cuss:. The only time I can really OC is Wed. and Sun. (I OCed Sun morning, out of the 55 people or so that were there 4 said it was great that I was OCing. That night service my pastor asked me to put it away. (I think someone must have complained to him):banghead: So that leaves non church hours and Wed. Fortunatly for me my work schedule is changing which means possible more OC time. :?
