Are there any restrictions on non-standard pistols?

For example, I have a 1911 with a compensator and extended mag. I normally wouldn't carry it because of the size, but I shoot better with it than I do with my small CC weapon. If I'm going to OC, it might as well be with the gun I'm best with, right?

You might want to include the location you are asking about, in case that area has any specific laws that regulate magazine capacity, etc. In Virginia without a CHP in certain areas, you can not carry a pistol with a magazine larger than 20 rounds, or with a threaded barrel for instance.
