WEST BEND, Wis. (AP) — Washington County authorities say a teenage girl remains in critical condition after being shot by someone in another vehicle during the weekend.

Sheriff Dale Schmidt said in a news release today that 16-year-old Nicole Sell is being treated at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin in Wauwatosa.
Deputies say the Village of Slinger girl was one of three people driving in the Town of Addison on Saturday night. They say a second vehicle passed about 11 p.m. and one or more occupants fired multiple shots into her vehicle.

The girl was struck in the head. Two other teenagers in the vehicle, identified in the news release as Scott Cecil and Justin Towne, both 17, were uninjured.

Deputies say no suspects are in custody.

The Sheriff's Department news release says people are still being interviewed concerning the incident.

yup...I have a friends in west bend, kenosha, racine, and sheyboygan that say it's getting pretty bad in certain parts. Infact the one friend asked if I would move in with her so there was an armed presence in her place of residence. Getting pretty bad when you in order to feel safe in your own home you ask for someone with military training to live with you!

Kenosha and Racine, yes.

But things like this are extremely rare in West Bend, where I grew up and still go to visit my family once a week.

This shooting, by the way, actually happened in a somewhat rural area outside of Slinger, not in West Bend itself.
