Opinion of a type of ammo

Anybody have any experience with these? Are they as useful as they say they are?

EFMJ brings a new standard to bullet expansion technology.

Federal’s exclusive EFMJ bullet design provides the most consistent expansion and reduced risk of collateral damage. This one-of-a-kind bullet design combines a scored full-metal nose over an internal rubber tip that collapses on impact—not based on hydraulics. Its fully enclosed design means it never fills with barrier material and ensures controlled expansion directly upon impact.

A low-flash propellant is ideal for low-light tactical applications, while EFMJ’s bullet profile promotes smooth feeding in automatics. It’s the perfect choice for reliable expansion and penetration—not to mention for agencies that don’t permit hollow point ammunition. Also prevents the feeding problems associated with hollow point ammunition.

124 GR., EFMJ (+P) [50/BOX]

It appears to me that they might have some good points. It appears (by just looking at an expanded bullet, haven't seen any gel tests) to have a similiar expansion to JHP's and by the same token appears to resemble a FMJ (which do tend to feed better, generally speaking).

For those that livein New Jersey, it's about the best performance ammunition you are allowed to possess, being that hollowpoints are illegal. From what I can gather FEFMJ ammuniton gets good reviews all around the webbut I personally have zero experince with them. I prefer Double Tap ammunition.

I am not familiar with it but it looks interesting. Anybody ever seen any ballistic gel or other testing on it?

The old favorite "Box O Truth" tested them here: http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/bot10.htm

They performed well. Here's another page talking about .45 ACP expansion/penetration: http://stevespages.com/page8f45acp.html
I didn't remember it being one of the rounds in that BOT test and I also didn't recall it being on Steve's Pages, but then, not knowing what it is, I probably just overlooked it. Thanks for the referring links, Bob!

That's some very nice ammo too. In states like NJ where hollow points are (foolishy) illegal, is Powerball considered a hollow point or a "capped hollow point"? Anyone know? Their own pic in that link does state "shaped hollow point", whereas the EFMJ has no internal space or cavity whatsoever. Just curious...

Why are HP's illegal in NJ? Is it because someone labled them "cop killers"? If it is, why hasn't anyone shown the legislation that HP's are just this side of worthless against body armor?
