A Fulton County Superior Court judge ruled Friday afternoon, striking down a ban by the city of Atlanta on guns in public parks.
Superior Court Judge Doris Downs ruled in a suit brought by GeorgiaCarry.org that state laws that governed carrying weapons by those who hold concealed carry permits cannot be superceded by city laws, and granted summary judgement in the case.
11Alive's Denis O'Hayersaid Downs' ruling allows those with concealed carry permits to carry guns within parks within the city of Atlanta.
City of Atlanta attorney Beth Chandler said a statement would be forthcoming in response to the ruling.
