Nice, but expensive as hell, and pretty much unavailable to civilians.

You're better off getting an LWRC firearm with the same gas-piston upper mechanism at around $1800 and is orderable from their website (of course it has to be sent to an FFL 01, but that's a given).

If they cost the same? Sure.

Now, if you're saying "all rules/laws were off", as in Full-auto was legal in this state and you got yourself a full-auto version of the H&K 416, then heck yeah I'd want that over the semi-auto LWRC.

But the only HK416 you can get is the modified one that only does semi-auto and it's still twice the price of the LWRC.

there have been rumors floated on HKPRO and others that the 416 may just become available to the general public but not for another year or so.

you can get the LW piston upper for half the price of the complete gun and you won't have to go through an FFL.

Bushamster sells a retrofit gas piston kit on their site for about $400 and is supposedly made by LW. so far thats the lowest cost option to get into a gas piston system if you already have an AR.

for $1800 i'll wait until the Masada/Bushy ACR comes out. that one looks pretty dang awesome.

Bobby

p.s. the 416 isn't really new. they've been around for 4 or 5 years. there are a few of them floating around the civilian world but they fetch around $5000 right now.

I've heard the very same rumors. I'm sure though, as the AR's became available to the public....so will the H&K....hopefully...sure looks like a badass weapon!
