Man accidentally shot

NEWPORT NEWS
A 25-year-old man is expected to recover after being accidentally shot this morning.
The man was with another man at a home in the 4400 block of Baughman Court where they had been drinking,said Lou Thurston, police spokesman.The two men were handling a gun when it went off, Thurston said.
The man who wasn't shotstarted to drive the25-year-old to the hospital, but stopped at a Texaco in the 4900 block of Jefferson Ave. tocall 911, Thurston said.
The man who was shot was taken to a hospital and his injuries weren't thought to be life-threatening.
Police don't plan to file charges, according to Thurston.

Slightly off topic ... I didn't know Lou Thurston was still an active LEO. I thought he retired. I remember he literally "walked" the beat down at the oceanfront in the late70s/early 80s. Glad to see he's still alive and kickin', although in New Bad Newz.
