No, I don't go out to the desert to shoot usually... I pay the $10 and rent a lane

Where is this place?

About 12 miles south of Boulder City just past the nelson exit. I used to shoot up west charleston when I was younger, before vegas got so nuts. This is the only clearly permnitted place I have found (the county's "map" of where we can legally shoot outdoors is a joke) where you can shoot without paying or being inside. I don;t mind the indoor range now and then.. but I prefer shooting in a less structured (though still safe) environment.

(plus I can shoot whatever arms I damn well please, no rules about ammo or caliber or etc..)

I take the kids there as often as possible.
