My first time! I attended the PAFOA Gettysburg OC lunch with a PA couple I had met previously, all 3 of us OC'd. I got around the transport law due to the husband having an LTCF to transport for me to the restaurant, and his property having a lil private range on it. We met and went to their place first. ARRGGG...keeping track of all these laws... In a few months I will hopefully have a FL nonres carry permit for my PA excursions.

No problems at all. Restaurant owner is a pro gun woman for one! Lots of older folks and got some looks, stares and gawking. But no cops to be seen at all, and no huffy people saying stuff to anyone.

Anyway,I finally got to attend an OC function and to actually OC in public, and it felt so good to be in a state that isn't full of socialist anti gun BS laws, to be allowed to properly excersize my 2nd amendment rights to not only keep but to alsobear an XD40. Refreshing and LIBERATING experience!

This is myself and the lady ( wife of the guy with the ltcf) I was hanging out with. Hope she doesn't mind me posting the pic... I am the one on the right(I need to lose 50+ pounds! LOL).

Yes, it is liberating. Those were some ofmy thoughts the first time I did it as well. I'm glad you had fun.

The PA vehicle law sucks. I'm glad I don't have to put up with it here in NV.

Glad to hear it was such a postitive experience for you. I spent the holiday weekend in KY and was able to OC daily. It was a nice (and physically comfortable) change from being at home where there is a city ordinance against OC.

you guys need a preemption law like here in MI. local ordinances that restrict carry any more than state and federal are illegal and invalid

We've been trying for several years and still working on it. I think it is a very real possibility over the next 2-3 years depending on the way the political winds blow over the next 18 months.

Congratulations on your first OC in public. What is the PA vehicle law?

(And instead of losing 50 lbs, get a Glock--wearing them is slimming.)

A Glock weighs about the same but they just jam and KB more often, and cops ND-ing them...LOL

The vehicle law is that you can transport unloaded/cased/ammo seperate to go to a range, hunting, to a gunsmith, from a gun store after buying, or a shooting event ( which is at a range of some sort anyway). An LTCF holder can take temp possession of another's gun to transport it to a different location or plain borrow the gun or whatever, plus they can have a loaded gun in their vehicle.PIA for sure, but she is going to send her LTCF application in soon, and I have a few more steps and need toearn the 117.00 beforeI send in my FL app.

ka-boom.........google "Glock KB"

A rare occurrence, but one that does happen, nonetheless......especially with the .40 caliber handguns, due at least in part to the fact that there is an unsupported chamber, I believe......

Actually, Section 6106 does not ban "transport" in vehicles by non-LTCF holders. The tex is clear - only "carry" is banned. There is no PA case law construing "carry" to include all transport or possession in vehicles, such as possessing an unloaded gun in a locked trunk. Further, federal "place to place" immunity at 18 USC 926A would appear to provide a safe haven for unloaded trunk carry.

If folks want to take the position that a gun in a trunk is "carried" within the meaning of 6106, that's fine, and not a theory to be completely dismissed - but just stop saying "transport." The word transport is used in some sections of the Uniform Firearms Act - but not 6106, implying that a carry ban does not extend to all transport of guns in vehicles.

Nice to see some folks exercising their rights!

I'm glad there is no law preventing a loaded firearm from being visibly carried in a vehicle in NC, but I'm sorry to hear that such regulations exist in your location. At least you were able to figure out a way to legally carry the loaded firearm to the restaurant though.

The federal law deals with traveling through the state to a vacation destination or to another state, doesn't it? I was just going on what I had read direct from the code of PA for general transport/carry of unloaded firearms. The law in PA is very much like the MD one, which simply boggles my mind that a gun friendly state like PA would be so assinine. Must have been some of those Philthy people years back who put that law through...

congrats on your 1st OC experience..

i remember my 1st time(not to long ago)..Public Beach doing some trash pick-up.even though i'm not a complete OC virgin,i still haven't gone out on my own while OCing..mostly partially open(3/4 covered)

as far as transporting..in N.H. all you need is $10 bucks, approx 10 days and then you have your CCW permit(which allows you to conceal carry & transport loaded firearm concealed or openly)
