According to the June 2008 Gun News, AG Rob McKenna will be at the WAC show in Puyallup on the 29th at 0900.

I plan to write to him and ask him to specifically address open carry and ask that he become familiar with current OC issues in Washington before the show.

Wouldn't it be nice to be able to excercise your OC rights while at that show?... *sigh*

The main reason why I let my membership lapse this last December.

I always OC at the show. I OC when I work there and I OC when I just shop around. Granted my XD is locked with a ziptie in my serpa, I still OC :celebrateand I haven't had a problem with it. However, I did get stopped at the gate once before the show openedbecause my name wasn't on the list and I had to call Betty (with Doubl eagle knives)to escort me in lol.

Attorney General Rob McKenna is an advocate of implementing new "gun control" schemes, as can be seen at the Washington Ceasefire.org web site: http://washingtonceasefire.org/advocacy

Here's some excerpts from Rob McKenna's own document describing his gun control schemes:

"Instant Background Checks Should be Available for Gun Shows in Washington "

"Policy makers and state agencies should consider the development of an instant background check service that can be used at gun shows." [Translation: Shut down the gun shows]

"Existing Background Check Requirements Should be Enforced at Pawn Shops."

"Courts, law enforcement and mental health officials should develop a firearm surrender and forfeiture program for mental health cases that involves court scrutiny of less restrictive placements, home visits, and database checks."

"Local law enforcement should consider increased education and enforcement of requirements that pawn shops request background checks on applicants who attempt to purchase firearms."

"Washington‘s firearm statute should be amended to prohibit individuals who have been involuntarily committed for 14 days from possessing a firearm. This would align Washington law with federal law."

"Washington‘s firearm statute should be amended to prohibit individuals who participate in mental health court proceedings from possessing a firearm. While such a prohibition may discourage some persons from participating, those persons should not be considered candidates for participation if they are unwilling to forego their firearm rights." [Translation: Testify in a court case that your neighbor is a nutcase, then you will forfeit your right to own a gun.]
So, let's see, Rob McKenna is doing the dirty work of Washington Ceasefire, and he's going to try to drum up political support at the very same gun shows he's trying to shut down? Seems to me that he needs to be confronted, and given the boot out of political office.

I heard back from the AG's executive scheduler. She's going to share my info with him, which included a link to the WA sub-forum.
