Suspect in break-in found by resident
A Rochester-area homeowner lost a laptop computer and miscellaneous equipment when a man burglarized his house last month, then regained the property after the burglar returned, according to the Thurston County Sheriff's Office.
The resident and his wife were alerted to a break-in at their home in the 4500 block of 180th Way Southwest about 1:40 a.m. Thursday by their home alarm, Chief Criminal Deputy Jim Chamberlain said.
The resident confronted the suspect, David Thomas Alexander, 18, of Rochester, in his garage and held him at gunpoint until law enforcement arrived and took him into custody, according to the sheriff's office.
The burglar reportedly had entered through an unlocked door May 24. Deputies obtained a search warrant for Alexander's nearby home later Thursday and recovered the computer and equipment stolen during the first burglary, according to the sheriff's office.
Alexander was booked into Thurston County Jail on suspicion of residential burglary and second-degree possession of stolen property. He was not listed as an inmate Thursday night, a booking official said.

This incident is exactly why I am glad I have a gun.

And my wife feels the same way!
