Sorry this is a couple days after the fact so I can't remember all of the dialog but I'll try.
It all started Saturday morning, I had to get my oil changed so I headed up to the Midas on Bay St. in Port Orchard. I normally do this myself, but it was pouring rain and I didn't feel like crawling under my truck at the time.
I got there and dropped off my truck, the guy behind the counter either didn't notice my 1911 or just didn't say anything at the time. So I headed over to the attached quicky mart to get a coffee. I ended up walking strongside past the two employees at the registers and a lady standing in line. As I was filling up my coffee the lady in line came over and asked me, and I'm paraphrasing here, "if I could leave my pistol in my vehicle the next time I came in, seeing as how it was a gas station and it makes people nervous." I asked that if it was so dangerous in here isn't that more reason to be carrying a weapon to protect yourself. At this point another gentleman walks up and he must have overheard the conversation because he chimes in that it's my right and duty to carry a firearm however I wish. The lady walks back to the counter and I talk with the man for a minute, he was very pro 2A.
After paying for my coffee, I headed back to the oil shop to wait for them to finish. I went inside and the man behind the counter, can't remember his name for the life of me, finally comments on my gun and asks me what kind it is. I tell him and we get into a discussion about the legality of open carry. He seemed very receptive so I gave him the URL for our forum. In the end, I ended up talking with most of the employees at Midas and handed out several pamphlets. All were very friendly and wanted to know more.
After getting my truck back I headed over to Freddie's to pick up a voice recorder, ended up getting the Sony P620. I was in the electronics section for about 20 minutes looking over the various recorders there before finally selecting one. As I was paying at the register the employee commented on my Kimber and asked if it was legal to carry it like that. He said he CC's off work all the time. We got to talking and I told him it was absolutely legal and handed out another pamphlet and was on my way.
All and all it was a great day, with only the one minor negative comment.
