Hmmm...80 MPG = $4 to drive 80 miles on a scooter.

CNG is .63/gge. My four door Contour gets 30 MPG.

$4@ .63 per gallon will give me 6.35 gallons. 6.35 * 30 MPG=190.5 miles!

So a scooter costs more than double to drive than my car!

Have I rubbed it in enough yet? :p
But its all the non-gas stuff where a scooter will really save you $. how much do you pay for full coverage insurance? oil? etc. What about for the car itself?

The car was free... let me explain. I paid $3000 for the car. I received a $2500 tax credit from the state of Utah. The other $500 I have saved by not buying gasoline.

CNG is far cleaner than gasoline. My oil still looks clean after 10,000 miles! An oil change once a year for $15. (Oil and filter at Wally World)

I do not fully insure this car, the book value is not worth it. I have all of my insurance (Home, Auto, Life) through AAA. Probably $20 a month for insurance on this car.

Well the real cost depends on how much you drive (running your numbers):

at 1000 miles a month: Scooter cost $.08 per mile, CNG .07 per mile

at 500 miles per month: Scooter cost $.11, CNG .12

The CNG car can go 75+mph, the scooter 55mph (freeway vs no freeway)

The scooter is fun to ride, car no so much

Car can be driven year round, scooter 6-8 months

Scooter is new, car was used

And they all beat my truck at $1.48 per mile at 1000 miles a month

.63 cents per gallon/ 30 MPG = .02 cents per mile.

$4.00 per gallon/ 80 MPG = .05 cents per mile.

And I can carry a trunk full of rifles and ammo to the range. :p

my per mile cost takes into account insurance, car cost, maintenance costs (as per cars.com), miles driven, and a few other things.

I also have the total cost per month and year totals

HAH! I wish there were 56 stations in Utah.

By my count, there are only 16 public stations in the whole state. 17 if the Sandy station didn't explode. :(

So, since many of us can't make it to the Camping Trip, Genetics Dave and I are going to be getting together for a lunch or dinner the following Monday.
I would love to join with you, but I'll be in Chicago that week.

I really enjoyed the company at Sweet Tomatoes.

I think the paln is Tuesday night after the WVC City Council Meeting. Lots of options very nearby:

Cracker Barrel
Red Robin
Ruby Tuesday
Costa Vida
Training Table

I would vote for either Red Robin or Cracker Barrel.

I'm a go for Red Robin on Tuesday night after the council meeting - I need one of their burgers!!! I'm also good for a smaller, less formal (cheaper) lunch on Monday (can't do it at night) if anyone is interested.
