when i took the ccw class they told me no conceal weapons at locations that serve alcohol like apple bees etc is open carry allowed if no signs at the door? even if they sell alcohol?

This is a state law/ordinance or however you want to say it. If a restaurant is licensed to sell alcohol for consumption on premises, you cannot carry a firearm.

This is something to goes into legislation every so often, to try and get it reversed, however, it has not happened yet.
