No offense but these posts annoy me. This is the 5th time in a month a new topic was created covering the same topic. Please RTFF! But I'm an enabler...

is loaded ok?
YES, but not for long guns. Shotguns and rifles must be UNLOADED (unchambered) in the car.

any qurkey local laws?
Statewide preemption but some locales do have (illegal) laws on the books that the police MAY try to enforce.

what to watch out for?
For the time being, avoid parks. North Las Vegas and Boulder City have acknowledged their laws are void, despite the fact they haven't repealed them. Some police may not care and enforce those voided laws anyway.

areas not to carry?
Legally: Schools (including parking lots) and colleges, child care facilities, concealed at the airport, or any govt building with signs and/or metal detectors (technically OC should be OK, but no one has tested that).
Practically: Casinos (go concealed if you have a permit)
Any private business is free to kick you out. If you don't leave, you're trespassing. Ignore signs.

links to info?
Can't get the link to work. Google "Nevada Revised Statutes" and go to NRS 202 and read
ANY of the other topics on here provide alot of detail

Good luck

IANAL and this is not legal advice. Read the other forum topics and read the NRS

thanks for your time and effort...your link is dead, but I can fumble around and find it

a link to one of the other threads would have been good too....I scanned them and didn't see anything about Vegas in headings on the first page.

you almost have to expect it with a town like that and all the visitors...maybe a sticky is in order to avoid dealing with lazy people like me. Seems like this board is all over the place with posts related to other stuff.

I know, we Cali's are a pain..

May you only have to shoot paper...carry on

what will happen if you enter a hotel or casino OC?

Nothing legally. Here in Reno, you could walk around most and you'd be just fine. I do all the time in Reno casinos with no problems.

From my understanding though, in Las Vegas, many (or maybe most)Casinos will ask you to leave if you carry into them. That simply means you have to leave, and if you don't then they could say you were tresspassing.

I am a Washoe County resident and was in LV in April 2008 and was denied the right to buy a pistol at Citadel Safe and Gun without suffering the Clark County 3 day waiting period and/or produce a blue card or CCW. Well, I was on the way to the airport, so no 3 day waiting period possible, I am lucky to not live in Clark and thus I have no blue cards on file and my NV CCW has applied for but not received yet.

I wrote the owner of Citadel to inform him that per the law, post SB92 that the waiting period should not affect me due to the fact that I'm not a Clark County resident. There was no answer to my email despite the fact he had no trouble writing me email before I flew down to LV where he sent me directions and invited me to buying the gun.

So, unless I'm wrong, they don't even know the gun laws of NV and as such I would strongly recommend against shopping there.

On a high note, I flew back to Washoe County and bought that very same pistol in my regular gun store in Reno... total waiting period: less than five minutes.

As I learned today, many people disagree on the interpretation on the preemption (and whether the grandfathered statutes are in fact removed).

But one thing is certain. On December 4, 2007, the Clark County Commissioners amended their registration law to bring it compliant with state law. The stores needn't form an opinion on the reading of SB92 (which I fear may only be resolved in court), and instead need only get a copy of the amended Clark County Statute 12.04.110, amended by ordinance 3571. The amended text now reads:

12.04.110 Registration of pistols within seventy-two hours.
Any resident of the county receiving title to a pistol, whether by purchase, gift, or any other transfer, and whether from a dealer or from any other person, shall, within seventy-two hours of such receipt, personally appear at the county sheriff’s office, together with the pistol, for the purpose of registering the same with the sheriff. It shall be the duty of the sheriff to register the pistol, and he may, and is hereby authorized to cooperate in any manner he sees fit with other law enforcement agencies, and with licensed dealers, relative to registration of pistols, so that efficient registration shall be secured at minimum cost and duplication. (Ord. 3571 §3, 2007: Ord. 242 §11, 1965)

There are always going to be topics that are going to come up time and time again. It's not always about searching previous threads. People learn that there is an open carry forum and they post questions. Sure, they can search for it and they will find what they're looking for. What they will miss out on is the opportunity for people to respond to them. That's why they do it. They're looking for people to communicate with. There's nothing wrong with that. I am green myself and you can tell by the number of posts. I am merely giving you the other side of the coin. The idea is to bring in more people and get them interested to promote open carry. Whatever it takes. The more people on our side, the better.

Only hotel I've ever OC'd in was Sunset station. They asked me to leave my Glock at the security desk. I left all together.

I would not advise OCing on the strip. Most likely Metro will ask you not to because all of all the tourist.

Think about carrying at Disneyland... wouldn't go over too well.
