Does anyone have a link to information regarding civilian use of deadly force? For example a burglar breaks into your family's home?

It is simply sumarized as "Fear for one's life". Stopping a felony or attack causing harm to another is OK too.

If you are ever charged the standard will be how you answer the question "were you in fear for your life or that of another"? Be sure you can answer yes in no uncertain terms.

This article is really good although long.

The criminal defense attorney who wrote it is (according to Mas Ayoob) highly experienced in this area.
Good article; made me think of the application in the Harold Fish case in AZ. There's discussion in the True Tales of Self Defense thread here.

One of the posts on the first page made mention of a problem with firing a warning shot. I haven't found more on that, but it resonates. I've always been taught that if the gun comes out, it's only to defend yourself - that means stop the threat; not scare the threat.

Every gun owner in Washington should own this book You can pick it up at your local gun shop or gun show.

Washington Gun Rights and Responsibilities by Dave Workman
http://www.danddgunleather.com/pages/washington_gun_rights.htm

Washington State Gun Rights and Responsibilities deals with firearms ownership, both the rights and responsibilities for Washington state residents. It contains language from existing Washington State statutes that were in effect at the time it was written. This includes the laws that relate to use of force in self defense, defense of property, and defense of another person. You will also find advice on safe firearms handling, a section on kids and guns, and the general "rules of the road" about owning, carrying, and using firearms, whether for recreation or personal defense. What's New in this Edition
 • Open Carry regulations, interpretations, and recommendations
 • Reciprocity with other states
 • "No duty to retreat" in a lethal confrontation
What Reader's Say about Washington State Gun Rights and Responsibilities "To write "Washington State Gun Rights and Responsibilities," Dave has distilled stacks of federal, state, and local regulations, then combined that with his years of hands-on experience in the gun rights arena, and added in his close relationship with the law enforcement community. The result is the definitive text on what you, as a gun owner, and especially as a concealed pistol license holder, MUST know about legal possession and use of guns in Washington State. If you are even thinking about carrying, you need this book...." Mike Lubrecht
