I wish I could quote the policy, but it is not listed fully online. I was in Holland over the weekend, and I looked over the posted policy at Black Lake Boardwalk. They listed, among other things, no firearms of any sort allowed.
I guess this is just a report, because we all know that sort of posting is illegal. Once Venator emails me the standard docs he uses, I will be mailing a set of those to Ottawa county.
Otherwise uneventful weekend. Received no problems of any sort OC-ing at Holland State Park.
Looking over some meeting minutes from July 23, 2001, MCRGO notified Ottawa county that it would be illegal to prohibit firearms from county property. Ottawa county, at that time, believed that since their buildings were under the control of the "County Board of Commissioners", that they were not bound to that law.
You can read the whole thing here http://www.miottawa.org/Minutes/BOC/2001/CJ072301.pdf
Cant find anything more recent than that.
I am not sure who controls this park. Holland lists through municode, and they do have two ordinances prohibiting possession on city property: 20-4 which prohibits general discharge and carry without being "licensed" and 22-4 which prohibits possession in city parks. Both ordinances allow for "authorized animal control activities".
