I read on average most people that are into firearms own 7 guns. How do you measure up?

As of now I own 5 weapons, soon to be 6

(Note) I would have hit the magic number but I had to sell 2 handgun a few years ago.

    1 Assault rifle SKS
    1 shotgun (mom's house) .410
    1 revolver .357 Mag
    2 semi-Auto .40, .45ACP

    Next gun
    Semi-Auto .45ACP

8+, and I don't have a good reason to stop. I do get to count separate Contender barrels as separate guns, right? It makes sense to me.

I have become very reluctant to list what firearms I own and do not own, and how many.

    1 - Revolver

    4 - Pistols

    4 -Shotguns

How many firears do I own? Simple. Many more than Sarah Brady would like for me to own, yetno where near as many as I would like to own.

4 currently in my house, 1 at my dads in WA state:

Norinco SKS w/ Olive Drab TAPCO Fusion stock
Remington 12 Gauge Express Magnum, 18" barrel, 6 shot tube
    Springfield XD-45 Service
    Bersa Thunder .380, Nickel
Marlin .22 bolt-action rifle (that's the one at my dads)

I think the next gun I get will be an XD-9 Service, but I'm still not sure. There arejust too many out there that I want!

MAN!! I've always considered my SKS a assault rifle :?. What if it has a 30 round mag does that change things? I guess I will have to get a AK or AR15 to make it official:celebrate

None, Mr. Jack-Booted-Thug. I sold them all for cash in private transactions.

Or maybe they all got stolen... I can't remember...

I won't put a list here, I don't like the idea of the government being able to find out.

I have in excess of the average 7, however, only 5 of them would be considered modern firearms. The others I inherited and the newest of them is my g/fer's circa 1930 .22 rifle. I intend to purchase 2 modern rifles before January in case they are banned again and if funds allow, another Sig pistol as well. After that I have 2 other rifles and another pistol to buy to round out my collection.

I can easily see where 7 would be the average though to have a well rounded collection in common calibers for sport, defense and hunting. Something like:

    AR15 variant
    AK47/SKS variant
.308/.30-06 or other long range/hunting rifle
    12 ga shotgun
    .22 plinker
    9mm handgun
    other caliber handgun

Well, let me be the first to state the obvious:

If only 7 is the average, we need to adjust our financial priorities. If we could get the average up to, say, an even dozen, we'd be heading the right direction!

    As for me-

I'm covered, but I will be buying a few more here and there. New platforms, variants of current models, and calibers just keep popping up. What am I to do?

Yeah I read 7 was the avg. number of gun a avid shooter owns. But that number seems to be a bit low from what I see here. I figured the avg. would be around 5-6 myself here. I am behind the power curve BIG TIME!!!

But there is only one way to come up to speed huh.....:celebrate

I may own 8+ firearms sometime, but I will be a dead man because my wife will kill me when she finds more and more guns in the house:shock:
