    Can anybody point me to current federal laws regarding cross-state firearm purchases?

    Handguns, no. well you can purchase a hangun in another state but it must be transferred to an FFL in your home state, where you will pick it up and do paperwork

    Long Guns, yes, must comply with laws of both states.

    Isn't an FFL transfer necessary for all out of state sales, whether for long guns or handguns?
