Georgia is an open carry state IF you have a valid GFL or hold a validpermit from a state that has reciprocity with Georgia. That said... we have had our problems with LE. See the Georgia forum for a better feel for what to expect.

Boomer654 almost has it correct. The requirement to have a permit from GA or a reciprocal state only applies to pedestrians. No permit is needed to carry openly or in the glovebox or console of a vehicle.

Does Georgia have preemption? Or can local ordinances outlaw OC?

we have full preemption, although atlanta doesnt like to think so when it comes to their airport, which became legal to carry in july 1st so if you fly in i suggest not getting caught :p hopefully GCO will hand atlanta another devestating blow
