I am finding on the maps that the open carry is legal in cars but im not finding anything on a person walkin around town. Am I missing something? I understand "Gold Star" states can open carry, but it doesnt speak for the rest. Personaly to me open carry in a car is less important that walking around town. Maybe you guys can stear me in the right direction on this. Thanks.

Nevada is a defacto open carry state and you may open carry if you choose. If you open carry in the high traffic tourist areas of Las Vegas you may have a visit from Metro or, Casino personel may/will ask you to leave the property if you open carry in any casino. If anyone in authority in any private establishment asks you to leave you must leave under Nevada's trespass law.

There is no restriction on having a firearm in your car, open or concealed as long as it is not concealed on your person (unless you have a permit).

-----------------------------------------------------------

If you have a permit that is valid in Nevada:

Recognition of permits issued by other states:

Out of State Carry Concealed Weapon Permit Recognition

Effective Oct 1, 2007

In accordance with Senate Bill 237 passed by the 2007 Nevada Legislature the State of Nevada will recognize the following States' CCW permit holders:

Alaska, Arkansas, Florida (added January 3, 2008), Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan (added May 9, 2008), Missouri, Nebraska, Tennessee and Utah

This law allows holders of valid permits from these states to carry a concealed weapon while in the State of Nevada. The permit must be in the possession of the issuee at all times while carrying a firearm.

http://www.leg.state.nv.us/NRs/NRS-202.html#NRS202Sec3688

-----------------------------

You may carry concealed in Nevada ANYWHERE (if you have a permit)except:

Buildings at the airport,
Schools (including colleges) and child care facilitys,
Public buildings (that means Government buildings) that are posted or have metal detectors.

http://www.leg.state.nv.us/NRs/NRS-202.html#NRS202Sec3673

That includes casinos, bars, clubs, restaurants, ANYWHERE. They may ask you to leave for any reason, or no reason at all, and, under Nevada's trespass law, you must leave.

You may drink whlie carrying. The BAC limit is 0.10 (DUI is 0.08, when they lowered it to get federal highway money they did not change the limit for CCW).

-------------------------------------------------

I hope this clears up any questions. Nevada laws concerning weapons are, for the most part at NRS 202.253 through 202.369.

Have fun in Las Vegas. Bring lots of money.

I think that is jumping to conclusions unnecessarily. I have OC'd in the Vegas area a lot without any problems. BravoSierra has OC'd around here even more than I without problems. In fact, I've yet to hear of any significant "harassment" of OCers anywhere in Southern Nevada. LEO may or may not like it, but they pretty universally understand that it is legal, and I've not heard of a single encounter progressing from consensual contact to any kind of detention/arrest.

We have it better than most here, and our laws are much less gray than Arizona. I can't think of many places where you have a better chance of OCing in a major metro area without incident.

I too OC around Las Vegas/Henderson with no issue. So far, I have only been asked about it 2 times, once by a car salesman who did seem a bit nervous at first when I told him that I was not LEO... I was tempted to take him for a test drive after that just to mess with him... but I didnt (did end up coming back and buying a car though later that night).

The other was checkout girl at my local Vons. She asked me if my gun always showed "out like that". I said, absolutely. She asked if I was a cop, I said, no I am a private businessman. She said, OK and was fine about it.

Other then that, I can think only one time of having anyone act weird about it and that also was at the same Vons. Had a little man following me around the store. Just to mess with him, I circled around the same 2 aisles about 3 times to show that I knew he was following me.
