It was at Palin Jewelry, and one person was shot, possibly fatal.

How many want to bet that nobody in the store was carrying?

They just reported that the shoot out happened AFTER WVC PD showed up. Interesting... I heard West Valley City and I thought of TJ.

3538 South Redwood Rd in West Valley City is the address.

Sounds like a guy goes in to rob the place, someone trips the alarm. The police show up pretty quick, and the guy decides to take a hostage. He takes one of the employees at gunpoint out into the parking lot and it sounds like the employee was able to get away. The guy refuses to drop his gun, and makes a move toward the cops, so they shoot him dead.

That's what is handy about the carry license, ready to go when needed. No need to rack what is already loaded :cool:

And no need for license on your own business or home property.

Still, no good reason NOT to have the ability to CC and carry fully loaded if you own a jewery store and are going to be making deposits, moving inventory, etc.

Of course, my favorite jewery store is a small family owned business immediately south of the SL County complex at State and 21st. Their door is ALWAYS locked and nobody gets in without being buzzed in. I have no idea whether the owners and/or employees carry, but they are certainly well aware of everyone entering their business.

The first friend I had who got his permit worked at a rare coin shop, that wanted him to have a gun with him at all times. Especially when transporting precious merchandise. They also wanted him to carry a .45 because nothing else was big enough. That was years ago and his permit has since lapsed without renewal. Then again he now lives in Alaska where you don't need a permit to CC.
