Caught these snippets in the Crossroads section. Started off with this pro piece

Followed by this anti piece about a study conducted 20 years ago by the author as a professor of Emory University showing that guns in the home are more likely to harm self and family and self-defense situations are rare

on the last page, these letters to the editor which seem to be mostly positive

I'm pretty sure that the Kellerman piece is a re-run, in substance if not in fact.
Doug is quite correct; he's been hawking that study (widely refuted since, because he asked the wrong questions) and trots it out at every opportunity. One of the most telling statistics (his cite of the enormous number of suicides by firearm) is actually the easiest refuted. Firearms are simply more efficient and result in more consistent fatalities by those serious about taking their life. But making firearms unavailable has never been a deterrent to someone so intent. Gun-less Russia has 4 times the number of total suicides.

Intresting. Kinda suspected that about the study, but I'm not familiar with it. Besides, whats Japan's sucide rate? 9 times?

As I look back on the fine print, the article was a reprint of a Washington Post article
