I've been lurking around here for a while, but had never OC'd before so I never had anything to post about till now.

I live in Murray and decided that I finally had to get up the nerves to exercise my rights. I've had a crappy fobus holster for a while now, but I felt uncomfortable using it in an OC situation (not enough retention, I'm scared of someone grabbing it). I had thought that Blackhawk didn't make a serpa for my Glock 30, but I learned that at least the front portion of a Glock 21 was the same shape as the Glock 30 so I bought a serpa for the Glock 21 and it works great!

My first OC trip was just an early evening stroll around my neighborhood. I walked probably 2 miles total. My walk took me through mostly residential areas but the streets are fairly high traffic. I was constantly aware of everyone around me, though I can't say the reverse about everyone else; for the most part I don't think people saw the gun. I got one look from a guy driving a truck, as he passed me he turned his head around. I had to wonder what was going on in his head (does he think I'm being unsafe? He's the one not looking where he's driving!).

I hadn't thought about walking past a school, I know there's federal laws about being close to schools with firearms, its summer and was a sunday and no school was in session, but I hadn't really got that far in scrutinizing those laws so I thought best to avoid that part of my route. To get around it I had to go through Murray city park, LOTS of people there on a Sunday. My heart was pounding but again no one really seemed to notice.

It was hot yesterday and decided to drop into Carls Jr. for a drink, one or two tables occupied, and the attendants took my order happily. I refilled my drink once and one of the ladies working was changing the garbage bags and HAD to have seen I was carrying at least once, so I'd say Carls is pretty gun friendly -- As I left, I simply thanked her for her job and she smiled back at me.

One cop car passed me while walking home.

Overall, I'm thrilled that I was not pestered at all!

Thanks to everyone in this forum as well as in Utah CC forums for their experiences and helping me feel confident in standing up for my rights! :celebrate

Welcome and Congrats:celebrate

If you have a CFP, you DON'T have to worry about the "School Zone" thing. It's just if you don't have the CFP that it will be tricky but you seem to know that.
