Lenawee county Needs some education

This I found on the Michigan Gun Owners Website It was in the classifieds in th wanted section. A young man was looking for a pistol to open carry. And another person put this post up just to warn him of the dangers of open carry.

This is a copy and paste of the post.



Not to hijack a thread but just thought I'd throw this out. Less than one hour ago I took the copy of the open carry paper from MSP to the local cop shop and showed the seargent who I play poker with all the time that according to MSP open carry is legal with the exceptions of banks....etc....etc. His reply was that anywhere in Lenawee county you open carried you will be arrested, no buts about it no exceptions. Does not matter what MSP or whoever says, they have convicted before for it and they will keep on convicting. So....... Be careful, no telling what they'll do near you

What cop shop was it. I would need more information and examples on the circumstances of the convictions. My opinion is that the Sgt. was blowing smoke. Besides a person could be arrested for anything, but we don't know of a case that involved the LAWFUL open carry of a firearm. Someone may have been convicted for having an unregistered gun or having it loaded in a vehicle or for illegal transport, but not for lawful open carry. At least since 1990 when the preemption law went into effect. SO more info please.
