It looks like you caught something I missed. The NICS check does prove that someone qualifies to posess the gun and of course someone has to posess it before they can carry it. However, private sales and non-federally licensed dealers I don't believe have to do the NICS check anyway. Regardless, I don't believe that this law regarding the GFSZA has ever been enforced in Arizona unless it was added to someone's charges for committing some other crime. I certainly think it is good to try to get it repealed or overturned but I don't think you need to worry about being busted for it in the mean time. Have you lived in Arizona for awhile? If you are from here, you should know that the cops don't care about this law and that OC is a tradition here. Even if you mistakenly carried ON school property there is even a good chance that a cop would just escort you out and warn you rather than arrest you. I do believe you are worrying excessively about this law. Remember this is Arizona, not Maryland or a state of similar gun laws. I've carried near schools hundreds of times and nobody including the cops ever bat an eye.
