Yes, but without the "invite the press" part. There shouldn't be anything newsworthy about a bunch of people (who happen to be armed for taking responsibility over their own protection) getting together to socialize.

If something happens, such as what happened to Jarhead, then it becomes newsworthy and worth alerting the media, but not beforehand.
