Wow, a vote of confidence from Mrs. Hupp. Makes me feel warm on the inside.

She's still a looker too! Wait a sec. Maybe she should be on our billboard....

I agree, and, maybe a picture of Luby's as well.

I couldn't get the Video to play, but, one of the things I object to in the story is nattering idiots complaining that open carry will cause a breakout of Wild West gunslinging, especially the GunDealer and Gun Range Operator who used to be a Cop. That really bothers me.

The proper question to ask people who start mouthing this stuff, is: "How many Criminals have you ever seen or noticed with Guns strapped on their Hips? In my entire life I've seen one man that I knew had a Felony on his record, with a Gun exposed. If he'd known his T-shirt was hitched up over th' Gun, in an inside the Belt SOB Holster, he'd have had a fit. Probably did, but, I didn't have time to tell him before he walked back in his house and closed the door.

This was a neighbor that I knewcommitted a minor felony when he was a kid, had served time in Gatesville, and, been clean for 20 years, at least. One of many friends that I trust with my back. I taughtJerry to shoot a Bow, at "Bow Bend Indoor Archery Lanes," and, we travelled to Archery Tournaments and hunted all over Texas, for at least two years. Last I heard he had a Gold Mine and was living in the Dinali (Sp?) National Park, in Alaska.

I'm pleased with how the segment turned out.

By the way, Hupp didn't even sign the petition!

I wish I could get the Video to play, but, the Filters on this computer won't allow that.

Ithought the transcript was good, but, it still doesn't let you see facial expressions, or, know how close the Text version matched the Video.

It's fairly close. I read it before I watched it and nothing in particular jumped out at me.

One thing that really disturbs me is all these "so called gun rights supporters" saying that open carry will cause Wild West shootouts which by the way were rare back then. You would think that gun owners would know better. Even though concealed carry is legal in 48 states only something like 1 to 2% of the population takes advantage of it. I believe the same would be true if open carry was legalized in Texas.

Don't forget this these are the EXACT same arguments that people used when the CCW talks were going on. Look how many shootouts have taken place because of it.

Look at the Pudding. The proof lies within.

You can always point to Virginia as an example... we've had unlicensed open carry for I don't know how long - and gee, I can't remember the last time I saw a shootout, or blood running in the gutters. And our crime rate is markedly lower than our neighbors DC & MD, where LAC's are denied the right to self-protection.

I really hope to see you suceed in this mission. I'd love to take a vacation to your fine state (haven't been in years) and be able to meet up for an OC dinner like we do up here!

Yep, and, I respond to every one I run across, asking for Links to the Data they're spewing, and, occasionally handing them Links to things I trust (FBI data, such as it is, and, anything new enough to be useful).

I think we've got a good shot, even if we have to move the Target around a bit, when the lefties start lobbingMortars and Rockets at it.

I'd enjoy that very much, but, right now I'm manning a Computer in Baghdad, and, the commute is something I'd wish on no-one...;)It's a long way to San Antonio, and, a 2 hour drive to the house, 6 miles out of Pipe Creek, Tx, to the "Ranchette" (3 1/2 Acres off FM1283). But, that won't stop me from voting, ya know...

New Hampshire has had unlicensed open carry for a long time too and I have never heard of any trouble. We had more shootouts in Massachusetts where open carry isn't practical. As others have said, the same things where said when concealed carry was passed. These arguments are complete falsehoods.

Same thing happened in Ohio, in 2004 when our CCW was on the floor there was people screaming that the streets would flow with blood from all the shootouts that would occur, and our streets are still without blood in them.

I also didn't think the "Pro Gun" people would come out AGAINST OC or any type of carry for that matter, Pro Gun People are our own worst enemy and it is the same with hunters, if we don't stick together we will hang separately.

I would like to see a carry law like Vermont, anyone 18 or over without a Felony is allowed to carry any way they wish :Dwhat a betterCountry it would be!

But those Anti OC guys took me by surprise

The closer to the goal we get, the more uncomfortable the pragmatists become.

"But what if...?!" they cry. "What if the antis pass restrictive laws in response to OC?!"

Well, then, we would only be back where we started, wouldn't we?

Within the Liberty movement, we see the same thing as people progress from statists, to moderate, to conservative, to libertarian, to minarchist, to free marketeer/voluntaryist/anarchist (true anarchists, not the black-masked bomb-throwing socialists who make the news falsely labeled as "anarchists").

Along the way, some people become uncomfortable, afraid they've strayed too far from convention, and they pick a point to drop out. Typically it's within the conservative/libertarian/minarchist range. I don't fault anyone for picking their own spot on the continuum, but I do urge everyone to do some serious self-examination, and see if their "spot" is truly in line with their stated principles. When someone does that, I find they usually move a few more degrees toward Liberty.

And sometimes they move all the way, completely rejecting the idea of being ruled by other men.
