I find it strange how people cant just have an opinion about something without the emotions getting in the way and making it a personal attack. Jarhead is a great American, as we all are that help to protect our personal rights. Our founding fathers where of the same thoughts and hopes that we would keep the spirt alive and well.

My response to this is that everyone has their own agenda in this world. Do what make sense for yourself. If that is OC then fine, if it is CC then fine. If you dont like it at all, FINE. Just dont tread on me and mine and never, ever, call any of us unAmerican as then it shows your ignorance of what a TRUE American is.
Opinion is a two faced monster. What opinions are is emotion and has nothing to do with facts. Being emotions, opinions don't have to be proven, they just are. Seeing as how an opinion is emotion it can't be proven or disproved with facts. That is also why when it is opinion it gets nasty fast, you are messing with a person emotions, which tend to be unstable when they feel threatened. It's part of human nature and it isn't gonna change any time soon.

It's been a long road, hard with deployments and family separations; I would do it all over again. Thanks for the service you provided, I know you had it rougher than I could ever imagine. I haverelatives and friends thatservedyou’re era, was no picnic and those that attempt to degrade your service are just the morons we proudly defend, whether they like it or not. I’ve ran into a few bozos, I tell them "your welcome" and walk away.Hoping theyacknowledged I defend, so they can act like fouls.

Or how many of these places look at us with their hands out??? While they spit in our face.

For a people to express openly their fear of those of us who are afraid of tyranny is alarming. Fear of the state is in no sense subversive. It is, to the contrary, the healthiest political philosophy for a free people.” – Jeff Cooper's Commentaries, vol. 4, no. 16, December, 1996

I stand corrected of sorts after all Hungery gave an an entire 5000.00 for example.Big contributions I see from our allies.Butin most cases I don,t see the tens or hundreds of billions we are always asked for.And I still didn,t see Bande Ache or Sumatra on the list. Some I see are promised and sometoken to keep on our good side for when they have their hand out again.Still pretty unbalanced.

I think a lot of small nations gave what they could. Remember in the Bible it says those to whom much is given, much will be expected. The US has a LOT we can give, and get asked for it. I think it's pretty amazing that so many countries offered help for whatever reason, and with whatever they could.

Agreed.

As a Christian, I am terribly un-well-read on the Bible, but I do recall a passage where a poor woman gave the equivalent of two pennies (or so) and was chided by the others in the church, but Jesus said he cherished her tithe over the other greater tithes as she gave all she could while the other tithes were mere pocket change for the rich church-goers.

Whether you're Christian or not or even believe in the Bible's truth, it's a good parable that contains wisdom that I subscribe to.

At the same time, DEROS72, I agree that we, as Americans, are expected to give to those in need because we, as a nation, have prospered. I don't feel this is fair, on the whole, and agree that there should be a little equity... or at the very least appreciation... in respect to aid for disaster.

Also, thanks for serving. My father was in-country, stationed at Tan Son Nhut AFB in North Saigon (flight mechanic in the USAF) and came home to being spat on in the airport. As non-military myself (and likely won't be) I see it as my duty to my country to vote and be actively involved in the political process. If I can't serve my country one way, I'll do my best to serve it another.
