So when is it legal to CC without a CC Permit?

From what I've been told.. It's Okay to carry concealed...

TO and from your premises / place of business,

Inside a closable console/trunk in vehicle...

Basically, anywhere except in public and places off limits in the first place.

Any truth in this? I've done some reading on the SLED website, and It isn't too clear.

In SC the law actually makes no disctinction between CC and OC for those places you can carry without a permit. Your home, business, property etc.

In a vehicle you can carry a handgun in the console, glove compartment or trunk without a permit and can be loaded or unloaded as long as you are not restricted from owning a gun and are 18. Concealed doesn't come into play, just in those three locations while in a vehicle and you don't have to be going to or from anywhere.

Once you step off of your property you probably enter a place that you can't carry without a permit. Then the permit only allows concealed carry.

To answer you question you are on the right track and it is not nearly as restrictive as it appears at first.
