Michelle Ambrozaitis is running for Clare County prosecutor. Here are some questions she answered for me on gun related issues:

Do you support the right to carry?

Yes I do.

Do you support the right to carry openly if the individual chooses?

Yes I do.

Do you personally carry for personal protection?

Yes, I do.

Do you believe the “Pistol Free” zones are effective?

No I do not. If these areas were effective we wouldn’t have school shootings
and shootings in other areas where the ability of law abiding citizens to possess
and carry firearms is banned. These zones exist on the premise that all
individuals who come into these zones will abide by the law. But what we see
is that criminals do not abide by the law and our government has made law
abiding citizens easy prey by denying their right to defend themselves.

What are your views on the public using a firearm in self-defense?

I believe that you should be able to use a firearm in self-defense. I think
that the Castle Doctrine here in Michigan is a great step in the right direction.

Do you think that residents of Michigan should be required to register their pistols?

No, but it is unfortunately a fact of life to the great amount of federal and state
gun control laws.

Do I think people should be able to own short-barreled rifles?

Yes.

Do I agree with California banning 50 caliber rifles?

No, banning any firearm is a step in the wrong direction.

Although already legal to own through a very expensive lengthy process, do you think that law abiding citizens should be able to own fully automatic firearms?

Yes.

Do I agree with the ban on high-capacity magazines?

No.
