I don't know anything about the authors politics beyond this interview, but her points seem valid and they make sense to me. I didn't perceive any of the partisan-bias in the interview that the comments above perceived.

She addresses gun control a few times in that interview. She also addresses it indirectly when talking about how the government is overstepping the constitution on civil rights.

my intention with this thread is to get people to think. I think we very close losing our freeedom as we know it, going down a road that many other nations have. its no here say its a fact that we have had our rights stripped by the patriot act. it happened under a rublican, but that does not matter it just as easy been a democrat. no matter your party loyalty it should have not happened! who does it does not make it right. this is my way of trying to do something about it, get people to think. not just about politics about anything. not to just believe because I told you or the t.v or newspaper, think for yourself! we all know what right and wrong is no political leaders need to tell me that. calling a person a socialist is messed up, they I am sure don't want to live in china or under that kind of opression either. its an ignorant blast at somebody that thinks differently thats it. liberal people want the samethings we all do, freedom. they just have different view on how to get it and what it is. you can't blame them for it. we all may not agree with them (which by and large I don't) but they have the right to think how they want. its a free country at least for now. I think that Naomi Wolf is saying is far greater than just about the second amendment. if she does not agree with the intent of the 2nd amendment thats her deal (if she is anti 2nd amendment I don't agree with that), but I think the vast majority of what she is saying is very important and I agree with.

I think talking about this sort of stuff is important, if we don't talk about freedom and what it is to be free we could lose it because we forgot what's important to us and what freedom is. that way 'the man' can't tell us what it is to be free. god(or who or whatever you believe in) bless america. and keep fighting for your rights (whatever you think they are)

she believes the 2nd amendment only applies to a states national guard.

she is anti-american, and anti-freedom. she would not be saying these things if obama was in office, and she is not speaking out against the things democrats are doing from state to state and on the federal level, she is not speaking about how democrats brought the majority of anti-freedom legislation and policies into our government system.

Anyway, although I agree partway with Naomi Wolf about stopping the abuses of power she mentions, if she doesn't support the 2nd Amendment as an individual right, and aligns with other groups that believe the same thing, I don't respect her.

The more people in this thread hate on her, and the more research I have done on her, the more I respect her.
Her current organization is backing heavily legislation put on the table by Ron Paul (A republican). She seems very consistent about being non-partisan in this attempt, and not making this an attack on a particular president.

All the interview and quotes I read from her sound good to me. Until I see some hard evidence that she is actually anti-freedom, I am holding her in high regards. I can't wait to receive my copy of her book.

She's clearly on a journey...going from Liberal Democrat to libertarian patriot.

It is apparent to me that she's part of the liberal/socialist political side of things. However, she very clearly is moving toward a libertarian mindset. She may not "get that", but it's there in her words and attitude. Yes...she identifies with "Democrats", but that's not where she actually is. She believes that "Democrats" on the the "good" side...but they really are not. She suspects this...mentions it even...but is at the edge of ending her denial.

She's very much into going after criminals in government. Whether or not this will be subverted as a "pro-Democrat" movement remains to be seen.
She's ripe for a series of defensive handgun and rifle courses :celebrate

This would be one to get into the open carry movement to ensure she REALLY supports the Second Amendment.

I noticed the thread is now locked for some reason.

I watched another of her videos from an earlier date. In that one, it's clear she's a Democrat. However, she is concerned that even a Democrat President will exercise the powers that the Bush administration AND Congress have implemented.

It would be interesting to see what she has to say now and see where she is (approximately one year later since the video is dated October 24, 2007).
