As soon as I purchase a new sidearm, I will be OCing in Junction City. Has anyone had any experience in the smaller communities? JC, Monroe, Harrisburg (Linn County)? Would there be any meetings happening around Lane County?

Don't know much about OC in Junction City. Check the city and county ordinances or get a CHL to take advantage of state preemption. Let us know how it goes. :)

Don't know of any meets planned in your area... so why don't you see if you can generate any interest and plan one. :)

I have been asking around the area to see if there are any other like minded people who would like to get together and OC. I do plan on getting CHL asap. I have frequent occasion to talk to local LEOs due to the complex I run here. Have not yet had a chance to test the waters though. Junction City has (on there website) a claim of cooperation with civilians to allow a higher level of self policing. Not sure if its just hot air or not. I will update as soon as I get any or no response in the JC area.

I haven't had a chance to open carry in JC yet as I have my CHL. This is a good thread though about small local towns. I keep wanting to but I'm still not sure on all the local laws. What does not in public building's mean? Let me know if you want to get your CHL I know the local NRA instructor that does classes every Thursday in town.

I am very interested in getting my CHL. I will be out of town the next few days but plan on getting started soon. Although I have yet to acquire a new sidearm. Not yet prepared to walk around town with my winchester or 12 ga over my shoulder.. still working on the "mad maxx" holster for my sipja single... :D "... it's legal officer, I measued twice and cut once... "

Maybe we ought to start a Junction City OC Club...

I have a emailr into Bi Mart head quarters to see if this is true or not. That would hurt to boycott Bi Mart but it's there choice not ours. Do you have the name of who you were talking with.

Sorry, no. It was just a clerk in sporting goods. Nice guy.. very helpfull. I didn't have time to check with a member of management. The checkout clerk also verified no oc weapons in the store. She thought I meant bringing a gun in to fit a scope or check other accessories, which she said a member of management had to escort you into the store. I said .. " no, I open carry a handgun " her response was " Oh, that would make other customers nervous... "

I would hate to have to boycott Bi-Mart.. I like to keep my money local and in an employee owned company...

I got a phone call from Bi Mart, they actually don't have a policy on guns in there store. If you bring a gun in to have looked at they will walk it back for you. If you have a side arm that is fine. If you are OC and people complain they will ask you to cover it but not ask you to leave. Dennis is who I talked to and he was very helpfull.

Ahhh... that is good.. it may be a little indifferent but not a hostile stance on the subject.. if we make a habit of going in there to get them used to it.. that would be good thing.. I have been waiting to expose JCPD to Mr. Avg Joe with his sidearm.

I have been OC'ing in Junction City for a couple of days now and no problems. Not a lot of people have noticed yet. I also wore my .45 all the way back from Fall Creek on my Yamaha with no problems. I have had a lot of positive feedback from the general public and a lot of "Oh, I didn't know we could do that!" type of statements. Requests for fliers and more information. I need to go get some more printer paper and ink which I don't mind donating to the cause. :)

J.C. OC UPDATE..

I carried yesterday, from Junction City to Delta shopping center. Trying to find a holster I like locally.. Tried Joe's Sporting Goods. Though not overtly anti, they want toescort you back to the gun counter. Didn't have time to talk to anyone in mngmt to clarify policy yet. I admit the young lady in customer service and the gentleman in guns were very nice and extremely helpful.. I did get a holster I like for now. Am ordering a better one later..

I have a Hi-Point JHP .45. Picked it up and a few hundred rounds for a song.. I know its not one of the elite but it still hurls projectiles at bad guys when the need be..

Anyone have any experience with Safeway stores? I didn't happen to be OCing when I went in there earlier but was purchasing a magazine featuring concealed handguns. The clerk made a comment about it and said they don't even allow security to carry in the store. I didn't even have to ask.. but figured it would be good to find out more as it is basically the only grocery store in town.

Other than that, I have nothing to add except I have been OCing all over town walking and riding my motorcycle with no problems.. :)

I'll have to locate the posts to back it up but Safeway follows state law just as Home Depot, Lowes, Barn & Noble ( I have email & corp Letterhead to back these up).
