Now folks just assume I am the one who will pop up with the answers.

I am a bit late for work, so I will have to dig for formal links later, but you are GTG on face to face transfers in State without a dealer or any paperwork, by law. Technically, you can even ship a firearm to someone else in your State w/o a dealer, but that brings it's own hassles (with the shipper, not necessarily the law).
