Carry in Casinos

'Tween you 'n me... attempting to carry in Casino's is a BAD idea. For one... they're private property 'n have overwhelming security. I'd just call ahead to the Casino in question and ASK THEM first.

It almost sounds as if a "law enforcement officer" answered the question. Instead of referring to "law," the response was a negative personal opinion.
Since it's a well-documented fact Mississippi does not recognize open carry at all, ANY carry is considered to be concealed carry, in whole or part. Hence, as you already hinted, some sort of CCW permit will be needed to carry ANYWHERE in Mississippi.
My excursions into Mississippi and contact with Mississippi "officials" were focused solely on openly carrying, I haven't researched any CCW laws.

I don't frenquent casinos very often. and when I do I usually don't stay more than a couple hours. I have a policy of taking out $30 or $40 to feed the machines. When it's all gone, so am I.

Mississippi: "t is unlawful to carry a firearm in any portion of an establishment licensed to dispense alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises that is primarily devoted to dispensing alcoholic beverages; any portion of an establishment in which beer or light wine is consumed on the premises, that is primarily devoted to such purpose; the passenger terminal of any airport, except if the firearm is encased for shipment."

'Never knew of a Casino that was dry. Mississippi requiresa CCW (reciporocity) and yeah I was a LEO. And yeah I have an opinion. I get dragged to the local casino's (by the wife) which are on Indian land. Leave the shootin' iron in the truck.

I have looked at the gaming commission regulations and at the state law. I found that there is NO section of any law that prohibits the carry of a firearm, unless the casino posts the proper signage at all entrances.

The local police and the casino "security" might "encourage" you not to carry, but it is still legal as long as the casino is properly posted.

Commission does not have an existing regulation regarding this issue.
However, pursuant to Mississippi Gaming Regulation. III. Operations. A. In
General. Section 1. Methods of Operation. (a) It is the policy of the
commission to require that all establishments wherein gaming is conducted in
this state be operated in a manner suitable to protect the public health,
safety, morals, good order and general welfare of the inhabitants of the
State of Mississippi.  The Mississippi Gaming Commission is very responsive
to any concerns that may contribute to our proactive efforts to ensure
public safety for all casino patrons and employees.  As evidenced by your
recognition that three (3) casinos on the Mississippi Gulf Coast have signs
prohibiting firearms, each casino addresses this issue independently.   The
Mississippi Gaming Commission does require casino security and surveillance
departments to meet stringent standards and regulations to sustain the
safety of all patrons.  However, we will review our existing regulations in
this regard and do appreciate your concerns relative to this matter.  Thank

It's private property. So how is carrying 'legal'? Most Indian Lands prohibit firearms by non-Indians. Tribal Law trumps State Law within' the Rez.

That seems to be something that a few in this group don't want to recognize. I don't know how Ms statutes handle it, but Tn law allows property owners or their agents to set policy regarding firearms on their premises. That's why I asked how the casinos delt with it?

I've been to Tunica once, to where there is a cluster of casinos, and went into the Horse Shoe. The parking lots were well lit and I saw a few armed security guards outside.

I have been to several and I jave noticed at some the "No Guns" sign at the entrance. I guess you would have to check each individual casino, but I would bet that it would not be "Welcomed" at any of them. :uhoh::uhoh::X

I don't know about casinos elsewhere but a lot of casinos I have been in have very sparse security and about half of them employ unarmed security guards.
