Just got an email from the Governor's Office confirming that the State of Emergency declared Sept. 4 in advance of Hanna and Ike remains in effect until oct. 3 - thereby making it illegal for anyone to transport a firearm of their premises under NCGS 14-288.7.
WE HAVE GOT TO GET THIS LAW CHANGED !!!!

[size=[b]§ 14‑288.7. Transporting dangerous weapon or substance during emergency; possessing off premises; exceptions.[/b]]
[size=[font="Times New Roman"](a) Except as otherwise provided in this section, it is unlawful for any person to transport or possess off his own premises any dangerous weapon or substance in any area:[/font]]
[size=[font="Times New Roman"](1) In which a declared state of emergency exists; or[/font]]
[size=[font="Times New Roman"](2) Within the immediate vicinity of which a riot is occurring.[/font]]
[size=[font="Times New Roman"](b) This section does not apply to persons exempted from the provisions of G.S. 14‑269 with respect to any activities lawfully engaged in while carrying out their duties.[/font]]
