I am planning a trip to the shadow mountain region, up north az and belive it to be in .....navajo...or hopi res land.....can someone help me out with res laws please

You have to remember that on Indian Land... You may as well be inna foreign country. It is what it is.

Here's the scoop as I remember it from my CC W class:

You must have WRITTEN permission from the tribal council to carry a firearm on reservation lands. There is an exception for traveling THROUGH reservation lands on public highways.
