Now i can see how it's hate and racist, but how the hell is that a crime? No matter how ugly racism can be, itstill should beprotected by 1st amendment! Seems like police has nothing better to investigate than a stupid racist prank - apprently it's more important than murders, rapes and robberies - at least it is getting more attention, that's for sure!

Get used to it. If Rock Bama is elected then any dissent will be characterized as 'racist'.

Of course it will. Also, roaming police squads will confiscate any and all weapons and give women forced abortions. This will be paid for by taxing ever penny you earn.

Its kind of hard to decide if the "vandalism" was racist if they will not show an unedited version of the damage.

While I understand that they might not want to lend credibility to the vandal by promoting the message, once someone decides that public money should be spent to pursue the matter, then it becomes a public issue that is not deserving of censorship. This is supposed to be a news story, so lets see the unvarnished truth so we can all decide for ourselves if the problem is race based, or just someone being overly sensitive.

That is a very good point! And even if there was the N word written on them, it shouldn't have been blurred as it is NOTanobscenity like F word or C word. It's overly sensetive soceity that made it a tabu in past several decades. In fact even though i understand how it can be offensive,it is still just a part of history and trying to make a crime out of simplydisplaying it is ridiculos. In fact it would be funny if it wasn'tsad...

They could have showed part of the word to at least give the viewer something to go on.

Thats already starting! I work with a lot of people my age (i am 26) and i am the only conservative here (which really sucks, but i am in NOVA - so what to expect). When i tell my liberal co-workers that i hate obama the first question they ask "is that because he is black? because if that's the case, it's racism and racism is worng". They dont ask me if hate him because of his views or liberal votingrecord or lack of experiene or shady political ties, which reallyare the reasons i hate him and these reasons have absolutely nothing to do with his race. The sarcasm isit'sthem, not mewhoare being racist, since they take hisrace as a primary factor that qualifiesor disqualifies him to be a president, not his experience andpolitical views...

I'm at work so I could only read the summary. Perhaps there is something in the video I'm missing, however vandalism is clearly a crime.

"Hate crime" on the other hand , I don't understand any more than "gun crime". If you murder someone what difference does the motive or weapon make? Murder is still illegal.

You have a budding legal defense career ahead of you if you can persuade a judge of that argument!

It is easily a crime because it is damaging someone else's personal property. It would be no different than slashing their tires or breaking a window. Its also a hate crime because racial slurs were used in the damage. How you think spraying racial slurs on someone else's property equates to "free speech' is beyond my comprehension. I'd love to hear that argument, counsel!

I looked into buying a McCain/Palin sign and they are $6 each. If I had a few of them in my yard and someone destroyed them and I was out $20, I'd be pissed. No one said that vandalism is more important than murder. Its a crime that deserves to be investigated...nothing more.

But its OK for Jesse Jackson to use the N-word when referring to wishingObama gets castrated. Was that a hate crime? Go figure. (Actually, he probably would make the churchchoir with a little higher voice.) This nonsense will continue, win or lose, and the liberalmedia ****** won't let you forget it either.

    1) I agree with the point about personal property. The way they made it sound on TV, is that these signs were put on the side of the road by someone campaining for obama (like you seealong the highways) and didn't belong to anyone in particular nor were on private property.

    2) Hate crime is a bunch of BS. Crime is a crime and motiveshould beirrelevant (with the exception when it was provoked). As for racial slurs, if that wasin fact private property than i agree, if it was on public property, then racial slursshould be protected by 1st amendment, no matterwhat. Freedom of speech isall or nothing, if it becomes limited, its gone. Thatis the common mistake liberals make all the time and it strats rubbing off on everyone.

    3) I agree that it deserves to be investigated, but amount of attention is completely out of proportion. Sometimes there are 5 people shot in DC in one night and the story about that would get less airtime than this one. I betif someone wrote "crackers" all over your McCain/Palin signs, it wouldn't even make it to the news.

    1) The ACLU (while non-partisan is typically viewed as liberal group) frequently fights for the rights of the KKK, Neo-Nazis and other hate groups to march, protest, and print hate literature.

    2) I personally believe there need to be limitations, at least on the broad interpretation of "speech", when it comes to child pornography. However I don't believe this should be extended to include "speech" about child porn. I have a vague recollection of hearing about a known child pornographer writing a book about the subject. As disgusting as I think it is, I do believe it should be protected.

The way they made it sound on TV, is that these signs were put on the side of the road by someone campaining for obama (like you seealong the highways) and didn't belong to anyone in particular nor were on private property. Did you watch the same video I did? 15 seconds into the video and its CLEARLY obvious that these signs were on private property and belonged to a private citizen.

    2) Hate crime is a bunch of BS. Crime is a crime and motiveshould beirrelevant (with the exception when it was provoked). The Legislature has decided that crimes predicated on race, et al are more serious and deserve some degree of extra attention. If you dont like that, petition your representatives to change it.
As for racial slurs, if that wasin fact private property than i agree, if it was on public property, then racial slursshould be protected by 1st amendment, no matterwhat. Wrong, a crime doesnt equate to free speech because of the canvas on which its painted. If someone wrote "KILL THE (fill in the blanks)" on the walls of the local library, fire station, elementary school, bridge, sidewalk, etc, do you think that its a right of free speech and should be allowed? Freedom of speech isall or nothing, if it becomes limited, its gone. Thatis the common mistake liberals make all the time and it strats rubbing off on everyone.

    3) I agree that it deserves to be investigated, but amount of attention is completely out of proportion. Sometimes there are 5 people shot in DC in one night and the story about that would get less airtime than this one. Sure, because people get shot in DC all the time. Its sadly becoming acommon event. Its election time and election related stories are hot news topics. Millions of people have their internet accounts hacked into but when it happens to Sarah Palin, its newsworthy because of the timing. Such is life!
I betif someone wrote "crackers" all over your McCain/Palin signs, it wouldn't even make it to the news. I bet it would, but let's hope that it doesnt come to that to prove a point.

Ask them if they hate elderly white people. That of course will be "different".

Also ask if they like Condie Rice. If they say no, ask them why they are racist.

That's because this is "News", five people getting shot in DC is "Olds". Nothing new about that........
