In a few days we are supposed to hear from Dept. of Interior on changes to their regs on carry in National Parks.

Let's hope they go with the wording VCDL has been proposing from the start, which would put NPS and NFS (National Forest Service) on the same exact footing.

There - made in gun related and OC related for you.

What was the song in the background?

stay safe.

I too hope we get to OC in National parks. I was so used to OC'ing in National Forests out west that its a shame we cant in NP.

The song is called "I fought in a war" by Belle & Sebastian
Here is the full song:

LYRICS:
I fought in a war and I left my friends behind me
To go looking for the enemy, and it wasn't very long
Before I would stand with another boy in front of me
And a corpse that just fell into me, with the bullets flying round

And I reminded myself of the words you said when we were getting on
And I bet you're making shells back home for a steady boy to wear
Round his neck, well it won't hurt to think of you as if you're waiting for
This letter to arrive because I'll be here quite a while

I fought in a war and I left my friends behind me
To go looking for the enemy, and it wasn't very long
Before I found out that the sickness there ahead of me
Went beyond the bedsit infamy of the decade gone before

And I reminded myself of the words you said when we were getting on
And I bet you're making shells back home for a steady man to wear
Round his neck, well it won't hurt to think of you as if you're waiting for
This letter to arrive because I'll be here quite a while

I fought in a war, and I didn't know where it would end
It stretched before me infinitely, I couldn't really think
Of the day beyond now, keep your head down pal
There's trouble plenty in this hour, this day
I can see hope I can see light

And I reminded myself of the looks you gave when we were getting on
And I bet you're making shells back home for a steady man to wear
Round his neck, well it won't hurt to think of you as if you're waiting for
This letter to arrive because I'll be here quite a while

It was already OC related - they boys in blue and grey all carried plainly for all to see.

Still won't be able to carry in Gettysburg though.:(

I took some video of Bloody Lane "Sunken Road" a few days ago.
Im not sure if we have any other Civil War history buffs, but I thought you fine folks would enjoy.

Thank you for posting the video.

I have not made it to Antietam in many years. They are apparently restoring the battlefield slowly to the condition at the time of battle including planting numerous trees to reclaim the treelines as they stood. My little brother was a huge civil war buff, finding the Battle of Antietam particularly interesting. My parents annually visit Antietam and have a "reclamation tree" planted in his memory on the battlefield. The posting of your video between the recent anniversary of his death and his birthday today was especially poignant. Thank you.

There's a great sadness felt there in front of that cornfield on the sunken road.
