Buying Lower Recivers

I was thinking that I would want to buy an AR-15 before Obama gets elected, but can't afford one right now. Does buying a lower receiver actually solve this problem? I was thinking yes at first, but then thought that since the AWB last time just banned cosmetic features, and I wouldn't be able to get those cosmetic features for the upper anyway, I would be in the same boat as I was before.

You should have time to get one before the next AWB, but keep in mind the prices will probably skyrocket on November 5 if the Socialists win, just based on speculation.

I just put a down payment on my first AR last weekend to lock a price in. Now I have 120 days to pay for it, though I am planning on taking half that time.

Bans can always encompass all parts, not just the specific ones that are most regulated right now or in the past. If you want to buy guns, you should buy the whole thing(s) or all the parts if building, even if that means getting less of them, or having to scrimp else where. And don't forget that ammo should be a top concern too. Ammo bans are probably much more of a threat than gun bans. It's much easier to stop ammo production than to take away vast numbers of guns.

If you just have to gamble on only getting the lower it certainly is better than not doing anything, but by all means get all the parts as quickly as you can afford it.
