The board of appeals ruled in favor of Peter Kuck to get his permit back. He was denied renewal of his permit because DPS was requesting him to prove he was a US citizen. He held a permit since 1982. His attorney succesfully argued that it was up to the state to prove that he was no longer a US citizen instead of Mr. Kuck proving he still was a US Citizen.

Congratulations - although what Peter was put through was completely unnecessary!

Does this mean when I go for my renewal I won't need to take proof of citizenship?

When do the underlying issues get taken care of?

Thanks for the update

The board did not really address this fact. As it stands now in my opinion if you choose not to provide proof of citizenship at renewal the Department can and probably will not renew and deny your permit. Then you will have to wait for a hearing.
