yeah. idiot rednecks killing animals for fun is a perfect example of immaturity and consiousless being.

THEY will be a reason to ban guns. "Oh, well look at these gun owners, killing animals for fun, we should ban guns!" is that they might say.

why would any person kill an animal for fun? it serves no purpose. if they want to kill, why not go to iraq? or california (hahaha).

the way i see it is... God said, to use the things he has given us, WISELY. i dont think that killing for fun is a very wise thing to do. nature is nature, so if a coyote kills a racoon, so be it. but dont kill a racoon for no reason. coyote? sure, you get money for it, and if you are smart, youll skin it for another 50-100$ for the pelt. THAT is wise use of the animal.

im sure ill get crap for postin this, but i dont see a reason in killing something unless its in defense or to eat it.

going off killing things just for "FUN" will get us into trouble somewhere down the line! (us being every american who wants to keep his rights)

my 2 cents, had to rant about those rednecks killing hundreds upon hundreds of prariedogs. (and birds, i know thats not legal!)

I can't watch the video since I don't have an account, but prairie dogs are considered pests by many farmers I believe. If that is the case, would you get mad at exterminators who kill rats in the same way?
I haven't seen the video, so if what really upsets you was the attitude of the people being taped, I guess maybe that would be a different story.

I watched part of the video. I think it's the attitude of the people being taped. I think it's obvious that they are just extermination pests, but I wouldn't behave that way if it were rats I was killing.

Lol @ California comment. <----Just a 'funny' nothing personal...i was born in CA.

Seriously:
This is a tough one. While I agree that varmints and rodents should not be shown the best intentions, i don't agree with mass killings/slaughters with the intent to further the dark feelings someone might have within. I have to agree with the findings of many; that those who abuse small animals (cats, dogs, Gerbils, etc.) have or are likely to have a tendency to poorly value human life as they progress in thier own lives.

So, they should tone down the hootin' and hollerin' when they make their kill. I dunno, i have killed varmints with my rifles and handguns, but I doubt i have ever celebrated vocally after my 'kill'. Call me weird, but i do have respect for this animal that came to the demise of a piece of metal that was traveling 1150 fps...that he had no idea was coming.

ya, don't relish it, respect it.

Actually, f**k you for the California comment. Take it out on states that deserve it. California actually has an active subforum here and OC movement, unlike some states you probably never think to make insulting comments about.

I watched part of it and the thing that I noticed, besides the celebrating, is that they were shooting into rocks and other places that could cause a round to ricochet back at them. I wouldn't want to be with them when that happened

Yeh, those guys were being a bit too excitable.

When I get the chance, I go out plinking prariedogs. Farmers around here with horses & cattle will often let people onto their property for that purpose, as the prariedog burrows are a serious hazard to livestock. That, and they can carry plague, Hanta virus, and a variety of other nasties. Oh, and they're aggravating as hell when trying to take pronghorn.....

Much of my shooting training was during a loong winter I spent at NRTS/INEL in Idaho.

Generations of the land being used of this purpose or that have resulted in unrestrained multiplication of the jackrabbits. I started with a bolt action .22, graduated to a H&R shotgun and left Idaho with a Remington 700 .17 caliber under a huge scope.

A nice day was to drive to the desert with a lunch, a thermos of coffee, a blanket and a sandbag - and the .17 Remington. Then walk to an out of the way hilltop

and murder jackrabbits.

My supervisor, that interested me in shooting, had a varmit kill with his .17 at over a thousand paces with witnesses.

The reaction you are describing is not necessarily the rule but sadly not the rare exception either. Unfortunately I don't think you can possibly point to these as being the only ones with this attitude toward animals or in some cases humans.

As for the comment about Californians it is quite strange that in a thread talking about how wrong it is to kill animals someone would even suggest jokingly that it is OK to kill Californians. After all most of them are people too.

I'm pretty sure rednecks will be the death of the second amendment. Nothing like supporting the stereotype to give your opponents ammo and credibility. You want to give anantia heart attack? Show them anintelligent, non-white trash gun owner.

If you don't eat it, don't kill it. If it messes with your lively hood i.e. dairy cows, crops, or screws with your family, by all means bump it off. But senseless killing for the hell of it is retarded and does show a lack of respect for what the man upstairs gave to us to take care of. Just the way I see it.

Those with an agenda to disarm everyone will defiantly use this blatant disregard for common sense as a weapon against us all. It will be used out of context in a hate crime ad, orPower Point presentationat the localpublic ideologyinstitute of further degenerationproving guns are evil, along with their owners. The enemy is shameless and much smarter than those bumpkins on that video. Perception is part of thebattle field and fight to keep our firearms.

Not sure what California, has to do with this topic. I've seen stupidity all over these United States and gun grabbing going on all over as well. I'm an American first and a Californian by birth, but I choose to live inOregon. I know it isn't saying much, but at least the forests are really green.

I'm pretty sure socialists and idiots like those in this video will be the death of all our rights, 2nd amend., first. Moronic behavior does not discriminate among rednecks only. I'm sorry you seem to feel that way. Some of the white trash I've seen lately seem to be up on capitol hill, and various other prominent locations.

Darn't if'n i dawn't gets to gettin up thar much, but i do watch this har cable television picture box, an gets some of that thar news ebejecation learnin.

Used to go out shootin' rats at the local dump all the time as a teenager. Helps cultivate a cool head ad a keen eye and a good aim. But I say that any fool can take and zap a gopher with a scoped AR15 on a bipod.

OOPS turns out the mayor owns the ranch. Well so much for that cute librarian, gotta skip town.....:celebrate
