Do most of you have a spouse that packs as well? My wife has been... tollerant of my desire to protect our family but doesn't like the idea of carrying herself. I don't push her at all but I'm curious how your spouse came to the decision to pack. I'd prefer her being armed in the neighborhood she works in but she's content with mace. How about you guys and gals? How long did it take for your spouse to come around?

My g/f doesn't carry, nor does she have a LTCH. I've taken her out shooting a couple times though, since she lives with me and there are guns in the house. Probably helped her be ok with me carrying since her dad does as well. It would be great if I could get her to carry, but it's her choice and I'm not going to pressure her. Better believe if she wants to start carrying I'll be there to help.

My G/F didn't really have an opinion on guns when we started dating. She knew that I carried and that I liked to shoot and she was OK shooting with me but never thought that she would carry.

Her X-boyfriend went to jail for child porn, rape, harassment, and assaulting a police officer. He would call her and tell her he was in love with her and then flip out the next minute and say he was going to hurt her or me. We were very happy when he was sentenced to 6 years. He would still send her mail and dirty pictures that he drew in prison but we called the warden and put that to a stop.

She is scared to death of this guy. He put a knife to her neck and raped her and did some other @#$% like that when they were dating. She was too stupid to know it wasn't right. You know, like when wives take the abuse and never do anything about it. I am sure there is a name for it.

Anyways, he is getting out in 2-4 years depending on good time, so it didn't take much convincing to get her to carry. Now that she has her permit she carries more than I do! (school and work forbid it). She has this cool purse with a hidden quick access compartment for her M&P 9c.

I love her so much!

I need to get her out to the range and get her more proficient. I am trying to get her to shoot IDPA but she doesn't feel comfortable yet.

After our son is born (3 weeks or less!) and we get in a bit of a routine there I'll be taking her to get her permit (Lifetime of course!)

Then it will be time to go shopping.

Wife and I have been discussing her getting a LTCH. She is in favor of it. We'll probably do it in the next couple weeks or so. She already has a carry pistola and is excited to carry it legally.

My wife does not carry. I got her a lifetime LTCF for our anniversary this year and then a taurus 38 for her birthday. (I wouldn't recommend either for gifts by the way). She went along with the license because I wanted her to not get into trouble should she find herself with a gun in the car for some reason. And she had said she would rather have a revolver so thus the second gift. She went shooting with me once and wants to go again but doesn't reallly plan to carry. I'm not pushing that part, she has the means and the license, hopefully she will come around one day.

I hope it doesn't take some major event to change her mind to carry, just common sense. Glad to hear you are still married after the reception of those 2 gifts.

I wish she would get her permit. She is not adverse to it, but doesn't ever seem to get it done. I really want her carrying when she is out with the kids and I am not there.

Agreed 100%. Though, after talking a bit more, I'm starting to wonder.

The other day, I was *gently* braising the subject and talking about the time some douchebag tried to get to my kids over a fence (the dog got him) and then he tried to bust in the house to get at me. Anyhow, she had said if *she* was armed, she would have shot him when he charged at me. I was a bit shocked, as she VERY well educated. I explained the unarmed man thing yada yada yada. We went over the moral ramifications and so on along with the legal deal and she wasn't at all concerned with that. From her point of view, a kid raping drunk tried to scale my fence and run off with one of her kids, therefor he should be dead. :banghead:

So, I'm starting to rethink the whole "arm the wife" deal. I think she needs to take some law/logistic/training classes before she starts packing. Otherwise, I'm almost sure the first bum coming up to her car asking for change may leave with .46 in brass.

Btw, are you going to the gunshow this weekend? I talked to the guys as policearms and they're going to be selling AR-15's like UBER cheap there. Its suppose to be over 300 vendors this year total. Its at the fairgrounds this weekend starting friday if you're interested.

Fingerprinting won't "put her in the system". Prints are only stored if you are arrested. If you have no record your prints are compared to see if you are in the system. If not you are cleared and the card is destroyed. The FBI does not have the room to store that many cards. Tell her not to worry and get her CCW.

You're wrong about the room part, at least. The FBI has maintained millions of fingerprint files for severaldecades.

The new girlfriend, whom I met about 7 months ago now, had (has) a CCW when I met her.

She carries various guns in various ways, LOL. Her ex-husband wouldn't turn over the handgun she was supposed to get in her divorce settlement, so she carries one of mine at times. However, since he's in violation of a court order, it's now the ex that has the problems to deal with. His choice, I stay out of it.

Agreed. I got my GF 100 rounds of 9mm for her birthday (along with non-gun gifts) and she gave me the nastiest look lol.

Don't think all women won't appreciate some ammo or a new weapon for a gift. I was THRILLED with my anniversary gift last year, a Kahr .40. I MUCH prefer it over my husbands 9mm Glock.

If she doesn't really care much about carrying or shooting, she probably will not be thrilled, but if she is enthusiastic about it, I would go for it!

We both carry! The wife is very happy to have her permit and really does like carrying. She has come along way in a very short time.....the man walking into our house one day had a lot to do with it though. He was a very lucky man, cause at the time she did not own or even want a gun. Any guesses on what we did later that day? Yep, gun shoping and got her permit.
