All right, since there's already a NOVA thread, and I was out of town this weekend, I'll start a Tidewater thread.

I didn't take an official tag photo, so I pulled a frame from one of the videos I shot while I was wandering around. If the lighting conditions aren't right to get the reflection, feel free to stand next to the building. :)

Hints: I went to Norfolk/VA Beach this weekend.

I was down there to see the Waterside building.

It was really windy. :dude:

The computer savvy can find out where it is without leaving this thread.

I'm not computer savvy, nor do I have the time. Any more clues? Is it near waterside? I'd like to get this thread going again. Throw me a bone here.

Cool are there any rules?
So here are the rules, please read them all before playing.

1. Grabing the tag. To grab a tag go to the location in the picture and take a picture of yourself OCing in that location. Try to as near as possible replicate the original picture, however if that isn't possible any combination of pictures that show you were there and OCing is permissable. The FIRST to post a picture gets to set the next tag.

2. Set the new tag. Within 36 hours of posting the 'grab' pic a new tag must be set by posting a picture of yourself OCing at a new location. No file pics please. Also all tag locations must meet the following criteria. They must belegal places to OC and not otherwise prohibited to OCers, i.e. subject to any restrictions as to trespassing or violating the property rights of the owners, and the tag must be in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Failure to adhere to these restrictions and tag is immediately available for anybody to set.

3. The Clue: New tags must be accompianied by a clue to the location. Be creative but remember the goal of the game is to keep the chain going so don't make the location too obscure. GPS coordinates can be used if necessary.

4. 3 day rule. In order to give folks faraway in the state a chance and to keep the game fresh, if the tag isn't grabbed within 72 hours of posting it expires. At that point anybody can set a new tag with dibs going to the first poster of a new tag site. This new tag will expire in 72 hours or can be grabbed as per rule 1

5. Spirit of the Game. This game is about showing OCers going about society doing our normal thing. So please no tags in places that could be considered dicey, i.e. don't tag a the local post office or in way thats trying to be in someones face. Also no place dangerous such as the median of a road please. Again, we want to keep the chain going so don't get to far off the beaten path to set a tag. The only reward for playing is kudos for playing a being called a goat if you break the rules or break the chain. So plan your tags accordingly. Final rule, no whining about the rules.

Has anyone OC'd in Waterside since The Incident That Made Danbus (even more) Famous? I think we need to have a dinner down there this summer... I don't mind driving an hour. it would be WELL worth the trip! Being new to the group, I didn't know anything about his court case until I spent the last hour looking for every story I could find on the net about the incident(s). I really think he has a GREAT case against the city for violation of Civil Rights on this one. "His white companion wasn't ticketed" while he was "cuffed and escorted out".

Danbus: Would you like the mayor to mow your lawn or wash your carbefore or afterhe personally delivers your NEXT check???

I've OC'd there on at least 3 occasions after the last incident with no problems at all.

Waterside is kinda strange. I've OC'd there quite a number of times, and have eaten at Hooters plenty of times. I've been there alone, and with an OCDO groups of one kind or another. The whole OCDO/VCDL contingent ate there after the (in)famous Norfolk City Council meeting a few summers ago, and no one said a word, except for some of the waitresses, who seemed to like the whole idea.;) There are pictures of this event on some of the old threads. Likewise, Dan and I (and a guest of his) have been in the mall area and eaten at Hooters with absolutely NO comments, even when security guards clearly saw us carrying. This was before his arrest there for "trespassing". Last summer a bunch of us went to Harbor Park, scene of the Szymecki's horrible experience the year before. We went to Hooter's a bunch of times to get ice tea. The heat was brutal, and the crowds fairly thin, so the police saw us frequently , and there was nary a peep from anyonyone. Go figure. Nasty stuff doesn't seem to happen when Dan is with me or some of the others. Is it racism, or is it just that Dan is on much better behavior when he is with me???:uhoh:

Its all very curious...

Right after the decision was handed down a bunch of us took Dan to Waterside to celebrate. We were beaten there by the Waterside Head of Security and his chief minion (meaning no disrespect to either of them) by only a few moments.

Several of us took trips to the restrooms because we had tro pass the security office. I stopped to say "Hi!" to the folks sitting watching the monitors and got both cold stares and friendly grins. It was obvious that the word had been passed that OC was legal and the policy against firearms was NOT to be enforced.

I've been there a few times since. No problems encountered, and no nasty looks that I could catch. I guess they are getting used to the fact that us non-criminals mean them no harm.

stay safe.
