I reside in Richmond and only know of "1" Shooting Range, I believe is JD's up by the State Police Headquarters on Midlothian Trpk. Range is an indoor and OK, but you have to use their ammo, which kinda sucks since I will never use their ammo out in the real world. I would definitely prefer to use my own ammo at a range.

So, are there any others in the area, say within 25 miles of Richmond? :celebrate

Must be NRA member and $100.00/year - Jan. 1 thru Dec. 31 No pro rate
Shoot your own ammo!

Watch the speed limit (very slow) going in through residential.
Must take tour and listen to the boss's rules - tough but fair - you'll like him.

I think he raised it to 150 a year or maybe 150 for the first year

They are the oldest game in town.
It is a way to ensure gun owners are also a member of a gun rights organization.
Never know who might be inspired to become an activist.

Memebership #'s are important!!!

My theory is the range was build with assistance from the NRA. In return for the assistance, the NRA requires the range to only offer service to NRA members.

I have my doubts about that. The NRA's own range in Fairfax is open to the public, and I seriously doubt they'd want to limit range memberships, anyway. They're kinda in the business of promoting shooting, right?

The NRA will sell the insurance to the range if all members are NRA members. The $35 a year you pay to the NRA is (in theory) less than the extra cost you would pay for range membership to cover the non-NRA insurance.

I politely asked that question and was told by the by the proprietor that they
(Black Creek) were having difficulty getting affordable liability insurance. The NRA provided assistance and it became a mutally beneficial arrangement. As he said, "End of story."
