Yes the story is confirmed of a gunman on WKU South Campus. and shots fired outside of Peirce Ford Tower on Western's main campus KSP BGPD and WKUPD are responding story located at

Turns out no shots were fired. Still, makes one aware when walking around a college campus (as I was doing when a fellow faculty member told me about the incident down in Bowling Green).

Sounds like fear mongering is more important than reporting facts. Also, I got the impression they reported the gunshots as fact, rather than reporting a "possible threat", which is the intent behind the early warning system.

While I don't believe WKU Police have any intent to instill fear of guns in students, they are doing a great job of it so far.
