Noticeable improvements - like a repeal of gun laws, or the passage of pro gun legislation

Generally positive - nothing fantastic, but the government shows a little more respect for the second amendment

Business as usual - the trend of the past 20 years of ups and downs continues

Generally negative - insidious encroachment on gun rights. A maniac on a shooting rampage wold likely spark a ban on something.

We're screwed - outright hostility towards gun owners and the second amendment. Expect anti gun legislation.

Most of the gun owners I've spoken with do NOT have a good feeling about the upcoming election.... So i'd like to see what everyone thinks... and PLEASE, keep it civil... i'd like to see more than 10 responses before threadlock...

My vote? Generally negative. I expect the "for the children" crap to become commonplace. The next maniacal shooting spree WILL end up with a law named after someone.

I doubt we're going to see any improvements in gun legislation. Maybe if McCain and Palin get voted in we'd have a leg up, but even with that team in the office I seriously doubt any gun laws would be repealed, or even slowed down much, but at least the presidential veto would lie in the hands of a Republican, andPalin seems very genuinely pro gun.

If Obama gets in, I think the Senate will be able to pass whatever hogwash they can come up with. Dems have the majority vote in the senate, and with one of their own in the oval office I think we'll be seeing a lot more registration requirements, a lot more licensing requirements, a lot more 'second amendment means the national guard' squawk, and a lot more 'you have no right to defend your home' legislation. Eventually I think we're going down the same road as England, where our governmentkeep laying down anti-defense laws until guns are completely illegal, and then whenmurder/rape/mugging shoots up to an all time high, they'll start banning knives.

Just my two cents. Maybe I'm being over dramatic.

ROFL...do you mean Palin by any chance? :p

Anyway, I'm not of the "sky is falling" crowd, but I do think things are going to somewhat suck, no matter who gets elected. Only time will tell.

I don't think there will be a lot of change- which in itself is bad. There are lot of BAD gun control laws that need to go. Sadly, no matter who wins, that just isn't likely to happen.

Besides, MOST of the bad laws are on the state and local levels (thankfully not where I live, but hey, I travel a lot, so I have to deal with a lot worse laws than I have at home). About the only thing that's going to affect them is if SCOTUS rules to incorporate the 2nd amendment.

All I know that out here in whats left of the wild west, people are stocking up on ammo and weapons.....so I'd say people are preparing for the worst.

If McCain and Palin get elected, I think that the slow roll of the pro 2A movement will continue.

If Obamanation gets elected, with a majority in Congress, expect outright hostility.

It will depend on who is elected to the White House.

If Obama wins, I expect a generally negative turn for gun owners.

If McCain wins, I think it will be generally positive for gun owners.

As for there being repercussions regarding another shooting spree, I think that depends as well. If the perp picks the wrong location and the wrong time (a few armed LAC's present) I believe that it would speek volumes for the value of having LAC's carrying side arms in public.

Gun owners aren'teffected by Bush's third term? I could have sworn that would mean negative results for everyone.

George Bush isn't running for re-election.

That's news to me. If he isn't, then who's that guy running with the ditz?

Yep... noticed that.

The only way the 2A is gonna continue to roll is not electingthat Marxist poser and his Obamunist Cabinet appointments thereafter.

This nation will BE an Obamanation... in every sense of the word. We WILL experience rampant Socialism... and God knows what else.

And THAT would be different than it is right now, how?

I'm really sick to death of these moronic anti-Obama threads that focus on nothing but how he's anti-gun and try to paint him out to be Satan. Give me a break. 99% of the people here talking down about him are as informed about him and McCain as the average kindergartener. He anti-gun, so what? Give McCain a free cheeseburger and he'll be anti-gun if you want him to too. That's one of the least important issues in this election. Try educating yourselves on the ACTUAL POLICIES of Obama and McCain instead of swinging of the nuts off rhetoric makers, their catch phrases, and their snippy names and words. You don't like Obama, fine. But able to articulate an actual argument as to why. "That thar Ubamma ain't human! He's a devil child I tell ye!"... just doesn't cut it. You people remind me of the old lady that McCain had to correct about Obama being an Arab.

I was with you until you sprayed out this diatribe. After that, you lost all credibility.

You are posting on a gun carrying forum and are suggesting that gun rights are not important in this election. Particularly when talking abouta candidate that is likely to win in a couple of weeks whom has made his anti-gun stance plainly known.

As for other policies, I would be happy to debate any of them with you about both McCain and Obama if I could be considered one of the 1% that is not in kindergarten. :quirky

I have yet to see you show the partisanignorance that most other people here have, so go for it.

What partisan ignorance? Democrats in general are anti-gun as a whole, and Senator Obama has a highly anti-gun record, despite what he states to the contrary. I can't speak for anyone else on the thread, but I've been following the election pretty darn closely, watched the debates, and even tuned in to hear the man speak.

Now, after all that, do I think the guy is satan? No. But simply put I don't agree with his policies. I don't like his economic plans, I don't like his tax plans, I don't like his wishy-washy attitude about environmental policy and getting this country off of foriegn oil. I don't particularly care that he's a junior senator, and I can even overlook his experience, as I'm a firm believer that anyone in this country should be able to run for president, and being a senator or governer is not necessarily a prerequisite. I think Obama is an impressive orrator, but at the end of the day, he doesn't stand up for what I believe in, and he's not getting my vote.

I'm sure he can count on yours, and that's just fine, but arbitrarily deciding that everyone on the thread has the knowledge of a kindergardener and thinking that we're incapable of making up our own minds about who we chose to vote for is just plain insulting. Cast your vote, I'll cast mine, but leave the mudslinging to the politicians.

My personal prediction:

Obama wins the election.

The democrats take control of the house and senate.

I'd say about our only saving grace will be if they're busy with other things - take the economy for example. Thus my vote for "generally negative."

If things calm down in a year or two and there aren't any wars, economic meltdowns, budget crises, scandals, etc to occupy everyone, then expect the worst.

It's no surprise to me that everyone has been talking about stocking up NOW.

I was educated at the 1st grade level, but even I know how to spell Satan. Perhaps those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones?
