When asked about whether a general ban on carrying loaded guns in national parks should be eliminated, the answers were sharply different and somewhat predictable.

McCain, who is against gun control, stated: "I believe the National Park Service and the Fish and Wildlife Service should remove their prohibitions against law-abiding citizens transporting and carrying firearms to lands managed by those agencies."

Obama, who is against assault weapons and a gun show loophole that allows trading of weapons between private individuals, stated: "I believe in Second Amendment rights and the rights of hunters and sportsmen to bear arms and use them in a responsible way. But I am concerned about allowing loaded firearms into family-oriented spaces."

Hmmm, surely he's not talking about family-oriented spaces like restaurants, city parks, movie theatres, grocery stores, banks, sidewalks, etc......

There is no perfect solution this election. Let's just try to minimize the damage. Good luck everyone.

He has not however called for either a ban on handguns or on concealed carry.

Alec Baldwin yelled at his wife and daughter. Who do you think is a better husband, him or O.J.?

I am saying they are both bad. The evil of two lessers, imo.

Actually, your wrong. McCain has called for a ban on "Saturday Night Specials" and alsoa requirement for trigger locks...

McCain favors outlawing cheaply made handguns called Saturday night specials, and favors mandating safety locks on certain guns. He said he is intrigued by new technology that electronically identifies a person handling a gun, allowing only the owner to fire it. McCain rallied Senate Republicans behind a Democratic measure requiring background checks at gun shows.

He has also supported a ban on certain "assualt weapons" in the past...
McCain said he was open to voting for an assault weapon ban, depending on the details.
Source: Los Angeles Times, “McCain Calls for Hearings” Aug 17, 1999

Lastly, he isn't a gun owner and apparently hasn't used one since Vietnam...
Tell us about your gun collection, roughly how many you own, what your favorite make, model and caliber is, if any of them require a tax stamp? A: For a long time I used a lot of guns, including carrying a .45 as a pilot flying in combat over Vietnam. I know how to use guns. I don't own one now.

Even Dianne Feinstein is a gun owner and carries!

I don't like Alec Baldwin OR O.J. I don't have any trouble telling which one is a WORSE husband, and a worse human being for that matter.

I have a choice between voting for somebody who ABSOLUTELY is not going to get elected EVER, somebody who I don't like, but isn't hysterically anti-gun, and somebody who's INSANELY anti-gun.

You vote for whom you want. If Giuliani had been the Republican nominee, I wouldn't be voting for President in this election. Just don't waste your time trying to convince me to vote for someone I don't support and who can't win in any case. I think your choice is a foolish one, but it's one you're free to make. It's not MY choice. I'm not trying to convince you, just explaining my reasoning. There's probably precisely ZERO choice of us changing the other's mind. I just don't LOATHE you the way I loathe the PATHOLOGICAL LIARS here who support Obama.

That's fine Deaminator, I wasn't trying to convince you to vote for anyone in my post. I was just pointing out the facts about McCain for those out there that may not have known them. I, of course, don't support Obama or McCain and I have been debating people about that on this forum and others for weeks now.

I wonder though... You said you wouldn't vote ifGuiliani was the nominee... Is that a form ofprotest vote or something else? Considering the fact that I loathe McCain, how would that line of thinking be any different than mine in voting for third-party candidates? Isn't that better than not voting at all?

I don't condemn you for voting for whom you're voting for. I just don't see the point. I DESPISE Giuliani at least as much as you dislike McCain. The difference is I wouldn't vote for somebody I don't support as a protest. If there's nobody to vote for, I don't vote.

McCain is never going to draw the inside straight he would need to win.

Back when he was in law school, Obama hung with the federalist society, and promoted their members to top positions on the Law Review. He is less ideological than some think. Heis fair minded and reachable. He just comes from a different place than we do.

Rather than demonizing the guy who is going to win, we should be seeking to reach out to him. Our arguments are rational, and there are good reasons why we might want the guy to understand our perspective.

There will always be a 'worst 1%' until there are none at all, like the "worst 1% of gun shops." Divide and conquer. "I was silent when they went for the worst 1% because I was better than that." And then there were none and no one for me.
So, I'm still trying to figure out why outlawing 1% isn't better than 100%. It isn't logical to constantly say that unless McCain is absolutely perfect we have to have a racist, communist, rabid gungrabber instead.

Obama is an avowed, proven, gun-grabbing, UN bootlicking socialist who belongs to a party who has built into their current platform gun control.

McCain is far from ideal.

Why you hang out here promoting an anti-gun candidate on a clearly pro-gun site is kind of a mystery to me...

The only reaching out anyone should be doing is reaching out to retailers who sell ammo, spare pistol parts, AR uppers, AR bolts, AR barrels, hi-cap rifle and pistol mags or whatever flavor of self-defence tools you prefer as I can easily see one of the draconian gun bans in the Senate right now being enacted shortly after Obama is anointed, if that actually happens. Buy complete replacement weapons if possible.

There is a good chance this is the last chance we will have to stock up on our liberty teeth.

"I believe in Second Amendment rights and the rights of hunters and sportsmen to bear arms and use them in a responsible way." -BHO

I don't know how anyone who thinks the 2a protects someone's right to shoot a deer can call themselves a constitutional lawyer. Stay tuned for that "reasonable regulation" of a right he talks about if he gets elected...

DONKEY kicks back: There is no way any of that stuff can make it through the Senate.

My values don't change no matter who wins or loses. Obama is fanatically anti-gun. His entire record of statements on the subject proves that beyond ANY doubt, nevermind a reasonable doubt. Any claim to the contrary is simply as stupid of a lie as trying to claim that David Duke supports equal rights as the term is commonly understood. Lying about Obama's record won't change it. Lying about Obama's record won't make anybody believe.

Obama is excruciatingly ideological ESPECIALLY on guns. His PUBLIC policy statements on guns sometimes even transcendthe fanaticismof Sarah Brady and Chuck Schumer.

You won't change any minds by lying here. Obama may win. He may lose. That's no reason for me to foolishly believe the most craven lies which his supporters, in their utter contempt for gunowners, tell. The truth isn't determined by majority vote, especially not a FRAUDULENT one.
